Facebook official. Is this a popular thing?

I had a girl break up with me because I wouldn't make it "Facebook official." She is 34 and I am 44. I think it's dumb (and so do all my friends,) but her and her friends think it's the thing people should do if they're in a relationship.
Is this a younger generation thing?

I hate to tell you boss but 34 is not the younger generation anymore. The younger generation doesn't even use Facebook because "it's for Boomers"

Just go ahead and admit you were only dating her for sex and that you didn't want your family and friends know that was the best you could do.

Well were you? Even if you think it’s silly…what would have been the big deal with doing a small thing to make the person you supposedly love happy?

Sounds like he dodged a few of them. Had a buddy who’s gf at the time created a FB profile for him. She was mid 30’s also, & he was mid 40’s. He couldn’t login because she wouldn’t give him the credentials. When he broke it off she put some crap on there that insinuated he was off his rocker and contemplating ending it all. His family & friends reached out with great concern, this is how he found out & he had to contact an attorney. Women be cray cray

People use social media to investigate who is liking your pictures etc and it’s an effective tool. You not doing it to reassure her is odd IMO
