We’ve talked about the fact that Facebook is tracking everyone online — even people who choose not to open a Facebook account — long before the Cambridge Analytica revelations came to light. But now that Mark Zuckerberg had to face Congress twice in as many days, we know for a fact that Facebook is indeed doing it. The good news is that, well, we know Facebook is doing it, which means regulators may find ways to stop the practice. But the bad news is that you can’t really do anything about it for the time being, and Facebook doesn’t plan to offer non-users access to the information about them that the service collects.

Zuckerberg told U.S. Representative Ben Luján on Wednesday that Facebook collects “data of people who have not signed up for Facebook” for security reasons. However, he never explained what these reasons are, nor did he explain what Facebook is doing with the information it gathers, aside from using it for security purposes.

This kind of data collection is fundamental to how the internet works,” Facebook told Reuters in a statement. Facebook uses cookies to collect non-users data, but people can’t really opt out.

Yes if you sync your contacts on your phone, facebook records that data

So all of my contact info is now compromised when someone I know syncs their contacts with facebook. What could go wrong .

I wouldn’t be too upset if an EMP wiped out the internet worldwide. There’s no such thing as privacy or anonymity anymore.

Yeah I have an account that I opened just so I could open some of the links that sometimes require an account. And absolutely nothing on the account links me to it, fake name, random place in Cali (lol at this one, location tracker isn't stupid), everything.
Well after a while, the "friends suggestions" was people I clearly knew .

Yes any info that person has for you in their contacts is recorded and sometimes information like texting/phone call times and frequency is as well

ETA You can download some of your facebook data in settings to see some of the info they have

This is likely due to you having to confirm your account with your phone #. It's probably using your contacts in there for suggestions.

I've been online for twenty years now. By this point, the government and powers that be already know everything there is to know about me, plus more. It wouldn't make a difference if I totally went off the grind computer-wise. I really don't give a shite. In fact, I'm glad those assholes know how much I hate them.

Kiss my arse you deep state establishment mother frickers.

Of course they collect as much data as they can on non-FB users. It helps them create profiles of customers they’re missing.
