Facebook is spending more on Reality Labs than what the US spent on the Apollo program

Stolen from the Money Board:
Lol, WTF is Zuck thinking? The hubris is unbelievable.
I don't want to see the world thru some VR headset. I want to experience it first hand.

Facebook is dying off as social media and Zuckerberg is putting everything into VR thinking its the future.

If Zuck controls enough stock to prevent getting tossed, which apparently he does, he's going to run it right into the ground.
*Just because your attempt at a dating site turns into a social media behemoth doesn't mean you are a great businessman.

Look I'm all for it. Either Facebook dies or we get something amazing from VR. I respect Zuckerberg for this move, he's going for it.
Does anyone think Facebook is going anywhere as it currently sits? It's tapped out interms of markets/userbase. Zuckerberg knows that and he's taking a big risk and it's going to cost him a lot of money.

He’s got the balls to try something different unlike most boring companies such as apple or microsoft.

Zuck had some early luck and hit it big. But he doesn’t seem that smart, and he now seems to be destroying the company. Funny to see it happen.

Today's world; If you're not growing 20% per year you're dead.
FB can be, and will remain, a big moneymaker through ad revenues for the foreseeable future. Zuck is burning it down chasing a fantasy. Ask anyone what the metaverse is and you'll likely get a blank look.

This is a major problem. Too much focus on short term gains is killing our economy and destroying the middle class.
Companies and banks will do anything to make their shareholders happy even if it’s not real.

In the future socialist dream people will sit at home play VR. He is betting on this becoming a reality.

Kids think FB is lame, he's attempting to future proof FB

Short term profits over everything is just painful.

If he's using company funds, instead of taxpayer dollars, I honestly dgaf what he spends on it.

He’s going to be proven right on VR as the technology gets better.

You need a product to sell not just a brand name and he's working on it. People will know what it is when it exists in a better form. I have an oculus and it's really cool but they have a lot of advancements to make before VR becomes more mainstream.

I honestly think the evolution of VR will the the next significate change in tech. Like how the smart phone changed everything. There were already cellphones, but then smartphones changes many aspects of our life, there is already VR but what they are working on will be the smartphone to the VR right now.
Some things I read was that they are working on the VR glasses to make them smaller, like the size of regular glasses. With those glasses, when you are driving the map & GPS will show the lines in the road.
People will not be as depended on their phone (but they will need the glasses on).
People will be able to attending meetings with people from all over in a hologram form.
I don't think it will fail, it is just taking a lot of money to develop and test, but like I said I think this will be the next big step in the evolution of tech.
