Facebook is now requiring users to submit a Video Selfie?

People were complaining that Facebook is requiring them to submit a Video Selfie including profiles of each side of their face.
In this age of AI why in the world would you provide Facebook a 3D Full Profile Selfie?
As someone that doesn't have Facebook I've never understood why people tolerate so much invasion of privacy.
Is it that important to them to have someone liking their photos?

Have never had Facebook. Why complain? Just cancel your account?
A few years ago it did piss me off when public or business sites were accessible without an account. They’ve blocked that at some point so I blocked those businesses. RIP neighborhood site and local running club.

YouTube wanted my phone number and a selfie the other night, in order to post more videos because I had reach my daily limit.
I know Google has my number, it's been the same since 2001 and I've had my Gmail since it's beta version was released in 2004.
But I have never entered it into anything ever.....
Except for on here on occasions over the years

Just switch to Instagram if you want to keep using Zuckerberg products. Most of the reporting about this says that they only do the videos for Facebook users and don’t require it for Instagram users.

You are required to submit it for verification in some situations, but to continue using your account to talk to your great-aunt Myrtle it isn't currently required.

I love me some facebook drama. Just had a local girl get arrested, mugshot gets posted, she's out and starts cussing all of the people with negative comments. Good stuff, but they aren't getting a selfie.

This sounds like BoomerBook problems. I know if someone hacks your account and you lock it down they require stuff like this to reopen your account. Old people are always getting “hacked”.
