The funny(now) thing is a good longtime friend JUST asked me for my phone number yesterday on fb messenger.
That's a creative way bots are hacking users who don't have MFA turned on. The bots hack your uncle or cousin and then message you for your phone number with a "Hey I lost your number and wanted to call you."
Then the bot uses your phone number to log in and change your password AND the associated email with your FB Account.
This can be avoided by MFA b/c FB texts a code to your phone number(they can't retrieve that code even knowing your number).
TLDR turn on MFA for your social media apps and my old friend really did need my phone number. I just talked to him.
