Is this going to be a requirement for all sports? Article says “in place at their venues”.

Don’t they use metal detectors at the Superdome?

I cant count how many times I’ve gone through a metal detector at events with similiar attendance where the alarm goes off and the security ignores it and just lets you keep walking.

This will not make anything safer. The security services do not give a flying frick about their job. Just gonna create long lines.

Does TS have the clear bag rules as well? We do. Just wondering how that has gone at TS

Yeah for the last few years.

You can tell who never goes to any games since it took 3 pages for someone to say Tiger Stadiun already has metal detectors.

Some of you act like you have never been through a security checkpoint before. "What am I going to do with my keys? Or my change. My belt has a metal buckle! OMG!!!"

-Take any metal and have it ready.
-Place in the container. Walk through metal detector.
-Collect your belongings from aforementioned container.
-Enjoy the game.

It's really simple guys.

Geez. By the time some people finally get to their seats, it’ll be just about halftime and time to leave.

What should I do with my boots? At a minimum, 5k people are wearing steel-toed boots into TS for average games. I'd get popped for my hat, watch, belt, keys, knife, and boots. How'd you like to be in line behind 5000 baws like me?

Have you seen how much of a clusterfrick TSA lines are?

Stop being contrarian. You nor 4,999 other necks are going to TS with freaking steel toes on their feet.

I wear boots 95% of the time (not square toes)

I have been sporadically over the past two years because of school elsewhere, but I seem to remember them just checking bags, and a couple of people with handheld metal detectors. Not everyone got scanned, and not every bag got checked.

Hell, the backup gets bad going into court in the morning, and that's at most a few hundred people at one time

You’d rather wait until AFTER it happens? Most leadership gets criticized for being reactive instead of proactive. Besides, maybe this is a precursor to alcohol in the stadium, something they already want to have in place.

347 out of 365 days a year you're in steel toes.

You lead a very interesting life.

I've maybe missed a handful of home games in the last 20 years, and I've never had to take keys, phone or other metal objects out of my pockets at Tiger Stadium. There are no large airport style metal detectors like they have at the Superdome or Smoothie King Center. I've sat in the north endzone, south endzone and east upper deck during that time period, so maybe the gates on the west side have them that I've never used, but that would be strange.

I've been to almost every home game over the last ten years with seats in the North Endzone. I've also sat sporadically in the Studium Club and Suites. I've never walked through a metal detector.

The best part is they will probably have six entry lanes but only staff two of them.

Kind of like they do now with the clear bag policy.
