doesn't matter who started holistic / test optional admittance. The fact that it is still allowed to continue is the problem.
When my dad went to LSU there was zero entrance qualifications besides a high school diploma. GPA and test scores weren’t used at all
Ole Miss is basically still at that level.

But since you posted it, you’re saying you believe that this is the most intelligent freshman class in the history of LSU (in the ACT era)?
I would bet that’s true for just about every single SEC school too
It used to be far far far easier to get into all state public schools.

You’re hilarious.
Used to be easier? When? Like right before testing became optional?
You think we have a lot of bright people just deciding not to take the ACT?
Nothing about what you’re saying makes sense. You suck, always.

What in the hell makes you think the average college scores at any sec school is getting lower?
Posted on 8/22/25 at 3:13 pm to lsupride87
All the crap at U-High happened on Tate’s watch though.

But the average student at lsu and top end student at lsu (and every sec school) is rising so much the average scores are at an all time high just about everywhere

the current incoming class at lsu has the highest ever ACT scores for lsu freshman….. But Tate rabble rabble
Uh huh. Tests have been manipulated for decades to achieve desired results.

Please explain the mechanism by which more people going to college makes the average college applicant smarter.

What did King Alexander do to you?

Not to mention this “super score” bullshite they’re doing now.

And Ole Miss has a known reputation of accepting anyone.
Does LSU have some really smart kids attending this fall? Absolutely, probably some of the smartest kids ever to attend. However, you can't simply ignore all of the test optional / holistic applicants. Those kids affect your average.

You know the reason.

They probably have been getting financial aid at grossly higher levels than actual students, too?
WTF? Isnt everyone there an “actual” student?
Also in that thread… LSU is never going to be 80% white again. Our state university should reflect the demographics of our state

If you’re getting to those classes you generally have your shite together and aren’t a failing student

As the flagship school of the state, LSU should have higher standards for entry than all of the other directional schools. If you don't meet the standards, you go to one of the directional schools. Luckily, Louisiana has more 4 year directional universities than it needs.

Average national ACT score has dropped for 7 straight years but LSU’s somehow gets higher each year. What a wild coincidence for a test optional school.

Roughly 43% of college applicants submitted SAT or ACT scores in the 2022-23 academic year, according to Common App data, a significant decrease from the pre-pandemic rate of about 74%. This trend is driven by the widespread adoption of test-optional policies, with only a small percentage of institutions still requiring scores for admission.
But......
