I noticed that the West, TX explosion was a result of arson but never fully solved. What would the likely motive have been?

Reading up on it they were only carrying $1m in liability insurance so you can rule out that motive. There’s never been an arrest or tip called in on the hotline.

Because he pointed out that chemical plants can cause as much damage as nuclear power plants but don’t have nearly the same level of security?

I wanted to argue with him as well when I read it, but he’s not wrong. The death estimates for Bhopal and Chernobyl are roughly the same.

I keep hearing this was caused by fireworks catching fire. So everyone can carry on now. Right.....

point of interest from the 1949 Texas City explosion,,, the initial blast and fire was responded to by all adjacent town fire squads and equipment who had enough time to be on site when the second explosion occurred. they died.

Second link shows the explosion as a weird red in color. Any suggestions what would make that?

Already been discussed. The warehouse was also housing a load of turnips.

Sodium nitrate, likely.

I’d like to point out your downvote-to-upvote count as evidence to the contrary... and I am not one of those downvotes.

Thanks for the invite, but you and your soy-laden buddies aren’t my kind of crowd.
