I would go the other way with it and say after reading the reviews not sure im interested in the truck any more.

So basically this warranty is only a factor for the gap between year 5 and 7, or the excess over 60k, correct?

Correct, not sure how many miles you drive a year. I always hit the year before the miles.

Be advised that the GM Platinum (OEM) warranty maxes out at 100k miles and 8 yrs. So if you get a quote for unlimited miles just know its aftermarket. Not saying thats necessarily a bad thing but its worth being aware of.

I recommend you reach out to Todd Sutherland at MacMulkin Chevrolet. He sells OEM GM warranty at wholesale cost and no local dealer is going to beat him. You can buy the actual GM warranty after you purchase the vehicle also...dont let them make you think it has to be done at the same time.

(978) 660-8045 is the number you call. Do some google searches of his name if you'd like some validation of what I am saying.

I purchased a 8yr/100k mile warranty with no deductible for $2800. with $250 deductible it would have been $2300

Normally no, but a GM 6.2 it's an absolute yes.

Advice from experience:

Aftermarket lift and oversized tires void the warranty. Even if they are on the truck on the date of purchase!!

So look at the tire size specs of the warranty before purchase.

Paying cash, so averaging cost of warranty through finance term not a factor

Extended warranties in ALL industries are big money makers for the guy selling it

I paid cash just as you did and still had to see the finance guy so he could have the opportunity to sell me the extended warranty. When I declined it, he immediately cut the price in half.

At that point, I gave him this scenario:
If I get a small ding on the front bumper and bring the truck in for a warranty claim because the A/C is not blowing cold air. Will they cover the A/C repairs??

He couldn't give me a definitive Yes or No answer. I stood up and politely said, "When I came in here, I told you that I'm one of the few people that never gets an extended warranty on any item I purchase. Now, I hope you can understand why i do not buy them."

You have 1 year to decide on the extended warranty.

Sometimes you can buy the extended warranties cheaper online at a much larger dealer. They can sell them cheaper because they sell way more of them. If you live in Louisiana, you can most certainly get it cheaper from another dealer.

That's what I did. And I mainly did it because of the electronics in the vehicle. Would suck if you have a screen that craps out at the 3-year mark.

Lots of options?
Sunroof?

Are you likely to exceed 60K in 5 years?

Lots of options? No, pretty standard, no options except:

Sunroof? Yes

Are you likely to exceed 60K in 5 years? Likely

To the comment about dealer size, this is one of the largest in the southeast U.S.

If you haven't bought the truck check out the baby diesel. I typically get 25-26 hwy mpg and 22 mix mpg. Its recommended that you use premium gasoline with the 6.2L engine.

If you get the warranty google Todd Sutherland. He sells the GMC warranty at extremely low rates out of some dealership in Pennsylvania ( I believe).

You can buy it up until your vehicle has 12,000 miles so you may want to wait to extend it out longer.

It’s a GM product, so get the best warranty you can.

Have a rainy day fund (at least 3-months of expenses, more if have kids). Why?

For the obvious…peace of mind if caught in a reduction of force event in your career, large bill repair or replace for home, auto, etc.

Fund is Fungible - can be used for multiple things, including truck repairs.

It is a windfall for auto dealerships. Don’t do it.

If you don’t already have a rainy day fund, sounds like we found your 1st $2500 to start one.

Extended warranties destroy wealth building opportunity over long haul.

Is probably worth it, in your case.

See if you can work it down to a $100 deductible pot factory warranty, then I'd do it.

People that do this and expect a manufacturer to warranty this lack common sense and lack basic engineering understanding.

Always get the windshield warranty at least. The windshields made today crack or chip if you sneeze on it too hard. I remember when you could hear rocks bounce off of one with no damage.

Yes - $2500 is pretty good for 7 years unlimited.

The used truck I purchased was identical to the 'Rocky Ridge' edition, but it was not a factory lbeled edition.

Was sold the warranty...

Called warranty company after the standard 100k mile transmission failure...

Warranty company said the Warranty was voided as soon as I drove it off the lot because of the suspension and tire size... which were the same as the Rocky Ridge Edition.

So that's the long version for clarity

I have never changed tire size or lifted the truck.
