Do you think all those individuals who live in terrible school districts can just move?
If you can afford to send them to private school then why can’t you afford to move to a suburb that has good public schools?

It's different in every city. Unfortunately, the major Louisiana cities have suburbs that take forever to get to the city center.
Cities where great public schools are reasonably close and commutes are fine: St. Louis, Seattle, Pittsburgh, Portland, Milwaukee, Birmingham, Houston (for elementary but not high school), Minneapolis, Cincinnati, Columbus, Austin
Cities where the commutes are much longer: Atlanta, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Baltimore, Nashville, Richmond. Also Los Angeles.
Cities where the commute isn't great, but at least you have mass transit: Philly, DC, NYC

Ask people who are born and raised in New Orleans. They do not consider the north shore part of their metro.
You're very very wrong. Again, stop.

I know that to be true in my experience
Well, we've established that you don't know anything, so that's irrelevant.

Wait. A. Second.
Your entire thread is now a fraud.

Yep there’s nothing to be said that will change your view. The fact is, I’m not from here and here I am questioning things about this place and it just pisses you off. Everyone else has gone but here’s lnchbox with the butt hurt because I called out his precious catholic school

It is perfectly fine to run from a poor performing school to a much better performing school as long as it is another public school.

You realize they’re being sarcastic?
Just like someone that lives in Virgina Highlands laughs at anyone that lives outside the perimeter.

No one thinks you are a peasant for going to a public school.
They think you are a douche for calling everyone racists for having attended or sent their children to private schools instead of failing public schools.
FYI, there is not a person on this site who would pass up sending their child to BR Magnet (a public school).

You are arguing that it is acceptable in one instance but unacceptable in another.
Private schools cost money.
Moving your entire family, job, etc., costs money.
That stance of yours is mighty hypocritical.

There are, though. And I would question those parents. However, BRHS is not Ben Franklin, with a purely meritocratic admissions process.
But the reality is that any concerned parent in BR would seriously consider sending their kids to private schools. And they would either save money to send their kid to a private school or move out to make a 45-65 minute single way commute.

This thread went sideways, I guess my whole point SHOULD have been, why are private schools so common in LA instead of fixing the public system??
