The most advanced nation in Africa, Suid Afrika, is hardest hit

quote:

But scientists who are studying the pandemic have also identified another surprise of the pandemic. Some expected the African continent to be affected most heavily by the virus, but that wasn’t the case. South Africa stands out when it comes to the number of total cases, with nearly 631,000 infections. But fewer than 15,000 people have died of COVID-19. These figures are puzzling scientists looking to understand how the virus behaves and how it can be beaten.

The hypothesis that poverty should have a significant impact on the spread of the virus doesn’t stand when it comes to the entire African continent. Developing countries like Brazil and India showed that the virus couldn’t be contained once it reached densely populated, but poor, neighborhoods.

Experts expected the same thing to happen in Africa, but it didn’t. If anything, Africa is doing better than any other continent, both when it comes to cases and casualties. As BBC News explains, even if those numbers are significantly underreported, Africa still has it much better than other continents right now.

This, plus I'd imagine a VERY low obesity rate.

You probably have this weird misconception that most Africans live in isolated village huts

What your bird brain doesn’t grasp is that most Africans live in cities that don’t look much different than New Delhi

But CNN tells me this is a racist virus, attacking black people worse.

Perhaps it has more to do with obesity.

Well I'm sure the record-keeping across the African continent is beyond reproach. So these numbers are surely accurate and a true inspiration to us all.

Well it mostly affects old and fat people.

And most places there have a life Expectancy of what, 50? And no food to get fat on.

This is the biggest evidence that COVID is mainly hype. If it was anywhere near as deadly as the press let's on, most of the World would be an epic disaster.

Meanwhile, places without TV don't even notice a "pandemic" is taking place.

Africa will likely suffer a lot of the collateral damage from the shutdown itself (increased poverty; hunger; lack of supplies/drugs for TB, HIV, and the like; etc.).

But, you know, "if it saves one life" from CoviD...who cares if it kills millions from other causes?

Well Covid is most deadly to obese people and Africa has few of those.

I’m glad they didn’t have to shut down their thriving economy....
