I’ve been to plenty as a matter of fact.

Yea that went out the window the moment they fled the scene and he got in his car—that they didn’t steal—and chased them down to shoot them. He has no legal defense.

This is the definition of manslaughter in Louisiana:
It's a less severe charge than murder, often involving killings that occur in a moment of intense emotion or during the commission of certain crimes.

I guess a half arse decent attorney could argue it was all in the same moment. There was no ‘cooling off’ period. Murder would be tracking them down a day later to their house and murdering them.

In what world is a murder and attempted murder sentence of 50 years excessive? This is an automatic life sentence in some places.

Sounds like just the sort of dogged determination they’re looking for in the space force!

Switch the scenario around and the the same posters would be screaming to lock them up for life for stealing a car.

Well that’s just not true.

Pre 1900, they were hanging horse thieves and / or chasing them down with a posse and shooting them.

Not legally.

Criminals are still subject to a trial. A mad posse was just as illegal back then as they are today.

It's amazing how easy it is for those that "love" the Constitution and the Rights it grants to ignore certain Rights it grants when it's convenient for them.

Like politics, justice is local. He knew he was in a deep blue state, he should have know he'd get the book thrown at him.

Even in a deep red state like MS, he could have gotten the same treatment.

Had he done that in Hinds County (Jxn), he'd likely faced similar criminal charges. In Rankin County (Brandon, Flowood), he'd have gotten a medal and key the city.

I always find it convenient when a certain segment of the OT suddenly discover the Constitution.

Absolutely over the line and a crime but it’s not a stretch to say he did society a favor.

Just another example of vigilante law which isn't legal. The similar case in Georgia a few years back set the precedent for this.

Insanity.

It's used everyday by bad guys everywhere. They drove him to it. Might not work but it's a legal defense to attempt. It's just not likely to be effective.

(ie: a legal defense does not have to be effective; only that it was allowed to be attempted)

Maybe, but there would be a frick ton of collateral damage.

Right. But a strong argument is that it shouldn’t be.

Those pieces of shite were not going to grow up doing good things.

This guy actually saved lives. He should be given a fricking medal.
