In a world where so many NBA players get caught up in fancy cars and ugly suits... this guy is investing in his family. Love to see it.
What a story. Baw is living my dream.

As much as we hear the stories about athletes that end up broke despite the money they made, I love hearing the stories about the guys that actually use their money wisely and sets their family up properly.
However yall feel about Marlon Humphrey being a Bama player, he has the right idea with how to utilize his money, kind of a similar story to OP.

Exactly. I don’t see how anyone can even get positive gratification from killing a big game animal. You aren’t going to eat it. You are also using equipment that does not even make it a challenge.
If you want to prove you are a bad arse, go to Africa or India and kill some King Cobras or Black Mambas. Killing animals that don’t threaten your property and that you also don’t use for anything after killing them is retarded.
I also think using 900 acres on TX as your own personal safari or zoo is a waste of the land. With that amount of acreage you should be raising cattle.

How many head of cattle can 900 acres carry in that part of Texas, 50-90ish?

Yes, letting those animals die of old age, starvation and disease is so much better. How do you know someone isn’t eating it, or the meat isn’t donated to a zoo?

The thousands of money he spent to kill them goes to help anti-poaching efforts, thus saving more animals in the future. The meat from those two animals goes to the local villages who wouldn’t have had it otherwise.

900 acres in TX is not a ranch

It’s barely a driveway for some.

No pool? Interesting
Ranches don’t have pools. They have tanks. They’re used for recreational purposes and livestock as well as raising water moccasins.

Can't this be said about any stuffed animal heads?

The government should tell him how he can use his land!

Pretty cool to hear. I don’t follow the nba anymore, but it is refreshing to hear a former player thinking about generational wealth, and creating a place for future generations to enjoy.
I don’t know how much money he has left, but between 16 employees, purchase and upkeep of those animals, and throwing 200 person parties his expenses have to be pretty high.

Who feels the need to hunt a giraffe?
Big game hunters spend big money to get permits (which help conservation efforts) and the meat gets used by locals. It’s a win-win.

900 acres really isn’t that much, especially for a really rich person. For example, we hunt/own 800 continuous acres, about 1400 total. And that’s in Louisiana. Much easier to get land in Texas
16 workers for 900 acres is excessive. We manage ours pretty easily with just 5 family members. And I truly have no clue how he is sustaining that many exotics on only 900 acres unless he is keeping them in pens. For example you would expect approximately a herd of about 40-50 whitetail on 900 acres. You start adding all those other animals and there is just no way
