It still baffles me the south refuses to adopt good or even decent means of public transit. Mamma doesn’t want to give up that $95,000 Hummer to drive Coltyn to travel ball practice.

No. Mamma doesn't want to ride with tyrone and miguel and jarred or justyn (noticed how i didn't discriminate and gave examples of all piece of shite criminal races b/c i don't want to be around any of them but the south has more of them per capita than the NE) who are scoping out there next victim or doing/selling drugs.

High speed rail from NOLA to Dallas

Rail 3 hours

Drive 7 hours

Airplane 1.5 hours for check in and TSA, 1 hour to board, 2 hour flight.

The difference is I can choose when to leave by car. By rail I'm on their schedule, and it's just not economical to have a direct rail from New Orleans to Dallas. The truth is you're going to have multiple stops along the way and that significantly impacts the travel time.

A direct train between those two points would cost as much or more than a flight.

High speed rail won't work when you have the finest intercity bus system in the world.

Canada is East and West coast and a WHOLE lot of nothing in-between. About a decade ago I wanted to do the cross Canada train trip (like 5K to 10K USD) but never got to it. It was there version of the "Orient Express" and other world famous train runs.

LA demographics (THE SOUTH)

quote:

According to the 2020 US census, 57.1% of the total population were White Americans; 31.4% were Black or African American, 0.7% American Indian and Alaska Native, 1.9% Asian, <0.0% Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander, 3.1% some other race, and 5.9% two or more races. The Hispanic and Latino American population of any race were 6.9% of the total population

VT demographics (NOT THE SOUTH)

quote:

The 5 largest ethnic groups in Vermont are White (Non-Hispanic) (90.6%), Two+ (Non-Hispanic) (3.66%), Asian (Non-Hispanic) (1.63%), Black or African American (Non-Hispanic) (1.16%), and Two+ (Hispanic) (1.14%).

That’s never gonna happen and those rail lines wouldn’t support high speed rail anyways.

In places....it could, but since these are developed freight lines it would pass through very developed areas and require either grade separation ($$$$) or the trains would have to slow down in the urban centers.

Basically it would require a massive investment just to build out something that wouldn't be able to compete with the airlines anyways. To do this the way the OP is talking about would have to be something closer to what California is building (dedicated high speed lines with routes that facilitate very high speeds), and that's been a complete fail so far.

Im just curious what happened after the study.

Would be cool for that area to connect them all with highspeed trains.

But my sneaky suspicion is these studies are just a huge grift and nothing ever really gets done.

You are looking at the tree, not the forest.

When global rail lines were laid down (land cost and cheap / slave labor) it was cheap. Never be that cheap again (except maybe China or India), not Europe or America.

Do the pictures account for one being a communist totalitarian state and the US being run by small children?

Oh, I know that.

In my other post i point out china doesnt deal with the same shite we do.

When they want to fund a rail, they just do it. No squabbling over it or putting it to a vote.

We cant even build a fricking border wall without a huge fight.

Lol, no they are not. Not hardly.

I honestly don't understand how people under 50, maybe under 40 just seem to have forgotten that China and Russia are our enemies and they hate us and their cultures have always been bent on world domination.
Just study history for fricks sake

And when they want to arrest their own citizens, they just do it. No squabbling or putting it to a vote.

America is the best country in the world by an extremely wide margin and transportation is one area where we are and have always been the best in the world.

I am anti china.

But that doesnt change the fact ccp can do whatever it wants when it comes to these projects.

And we did fight over a border wall. So imagine trying to build cross country rail right now. Lets ay Trump builds 300 miles of highspeed rail and gavin comes in and cancels it over environment concerns.

I go to China 2-3 times a month. It’s my least favorite country on this planet. Everything about it sucks. The people suck, the food sucks, the internet sucks. Every city has more smog than 1970’s Los Angeles. The whole place is fricking gross.

I believe you now look at Chinas progress the last 30 years and look at the U.S. progress

I value my ability to get in my car and drive wherever I want, whenever I want. I do not want to be beholden to government run transportation. Europe and Dictatorial China can do whatever the hell they want because their citizens are subservient to the government.
