My mom saw Elton John at The Warehouse in NO in '69.
She got to see him again last night, and the memories came flooding back.

I saw Pearl Jam and Smashing Pumpkins open for Chili Peppers in 91 at the Municipal Auditorium.
i was there as well. $10 to get in. I had seen Pearl Jam before that as well.
Also saw Nine Inch nails open for, I think, the Jesus and Mary Chain, and then they played Tipitina's for a $1 fee a little bit later. They carried their equipment in a white Tradesman van parked across Tchoupotoulas from the bar.
Saw Jane's Addiction prior to the release of their first album at Tipitina's as well.

Hall and Oates in Lafayette at the Blackham Coliseum. They were a back-up to a back-up band.
I think it was Hall and Oates, Dr. John, and Brownsville Station. H&O played "She's gone". I remember thinking these guys are really good.
Dr. John had just released his Right Place, Wrong Time album and played songs from it.
We were there early and right up against the stage. Talked to Dr. John during the concert with requests. He sprinkled us with large glitter!
Brownsville Station...really? After Hall and Oates and the Doctor?

Saw Better Than Ezra at Louie Louie on Birmingham's Southside on a Tuesday night before they were famous. There were maybe 10 people there. That was 20 years or so ago.

Probably on the cusp of their expansion. BTE was already an LSU staple at that time. Thanks for mentioning BTE.
ETA: and their usual opening band buddies, Mean Tree.

Zac Brown played as a one man band at my brother's crawfish boil at his house in Atlanta in April 2004.

When Hunter Hayes was three or four years old, I saw him playing accordion in a band. At first I thought he had a toy accordion and was just pretending to play but then realized there was no else playing the accordion. Truly unbelievable.
I remember seeing him at the crawfish festival in breaux bridge when he was around that age. He was amazing on the accordion.
Not that this counts, but we saw Benjy Davis at the GBR state fair for their More Than Local tour in 2003. There could have been 30 people there. I still have a poster I stole.

I thought S.C.I.E.N.C.E. pretty much made them famous well before make yourself.
You're prob right but I was in 9th grade at the time haha. I was talking more of the venue being at state palace and then the very next year after Morning View, they headlined UNO Lakefront arena

REM - The Bayou
SRV - Chief's little club in Kenilworth
Expand on that. Us Gen Xers were probably in diapers or playing Pac-Man on Atari 2600 when you saw these shows but they are very interesting now!
Mike, if ur still here:
I did a lot of time at The Bayou and WLSU. Yup, that was KPRG/KLSU. You had to plug your radio into a socket in your dorm to hear us. I played a lot of REM on my show simply because I liked them and some other Athens bands. They got booked at The Bayou. I saw them for $3. The next week, they were famous.
I saw SRV prolly more than any other act outside The Radiators. The dude played every night some where. In the late '70's/early '80's he seemed to be in S LA a few times a month. I caught a bunch of thoses shows plus did split time between BR and Austin during those years.

I saw Cinderella at the waffle house in Shreveport after they had opened up for Bon Jovi, they invited us back to their hotel.
Also, buying crawfish at a little converted shotgun shack in Tallulah, There was a kid sitting on a stump that came up through the floor playing a guitar. He filmed his first video there and the owner has five of his gold and platinum records hanging on her living room wall.
Edit Note: Kid was Tim McGraw.
