Saw Sublime (and briefly hung out with them) in Cali before What I got hit the radio. They were maybe Cowboy Mouth famous there, but certainly not national.

Took my girlfriend to a Rascal Flats concert in 06 in Shreveport. Taylor Swift opened for them about two weeks after Tim McGraw started playing on radio. I recognized the name but half the people in the arena had no idea.who she or the song was.

Saw Jake Owen play at the lyric in Ox. He was already getting well known though.
Apparently John Mayer used to play at Proud Larry's in Oxford back in the day. That would've been sick.

Reba McIntyre fronted for Conway Twitty at the PMAC years ago. After she finished, she came out to sign autographs at a table in the concourse. Hardly anyone showed up and we talked to her for about 10 minutes. She was really nice... Said she loved Baton Rouge and had eaten lunch at Ralph and Kacoos and it was a great meal.
Really classy lady...still have the signed photo somewhere.

Saw Pantera a few times in Shreveport in bars before Phil joined. Shared a stripper with one of them one night. She actually asked my permission.

This. I didn't know either of them and I'm not proud of this but I thought TNKOTB were the shite after that. FML.

I saw Jason and the Scorchers at a college radio conference in Washington, D.C. in March of '84. They may have even still had 'Nashville' in their name at the time.
After Korea, my dad was stationed at Ft. Sill, OK for a time and said he saw some nobody named Elvis Presley at some shithole bar around there.

I wasn't there, but maybe someone from New Orleans can confirm this.
I've heard stories that the Police opened up for Elvis Costello on the Riverboat President in the early 80's.

Saw No Doubt open for Public Enemy at the Varsity in fall 1992. P.E. was opening for U2, but crammed in a local date. I think they told the band the Varisty was near Southern, Chuck D commented on that. Anyhow, I thought No Doubt was ok, but the singer was cute.
Also saw Blind Melon at the Varsity in December 1992, before No Rain blew up. They were OK, the show had an odd vibe and I was kind of depressed about other things

When Hunter Hayes was three or four years old, I saw him playing accordion in a band. At first I thought he had a toy accordion and was just pretending to play but then realized there was no else playing the accordion. Truly unbelievable.

Think I was at the same show as Vader. Saw Zac Brown Band upstairs at zydeco around 2006. I had to sneak in.
