Yeah a few times and they are majestic. I've seen them when running around the country on my motorcycle but the last time I saw one was heading across the Bonne Carre Spillway from Laplace back to N.O.

Off to the right side between the exit for Hahnville/Luling and the airport there was an eagles nest at the top of a tree a couple hundred yards from the road and I'd see it from time to time making its way there.

I actually saw one on the ground within 50 ft. off the road one day when I had dropped a friend off at the airport and used the access road from I-10 to it.

That is when you realize how huge they are when you see them up close like that.

This. I’ve also seen several in rural Northwest Arkansas.

If you are really interested, take a trip to the Conowingo Dam in Maryland at the top of the Chesapeake Bay and the foot of the Susquehanna River. The dam has a fish elevator that lifts the fish over the dam to spawning waters in the Susquehanna. They also sort the fish to prevent invasive species from migrating upstream. Because of this fish elevator many species of birds hang out overhead. One, is the bald eagle. You should see them , just incredible.
Best time to go is October through early November, this is also the peak fall leaf peeping season. The birds like to hang out until mid-May, but to view during the winter months can be brutal.
I used to live in Rising Sun, MD and we had a family of bald eagles in a tree on our farm. Always enjoyed watching them.

There's a pair on Calling Panther lake that we see often. Went to Guntersville these last two years and see one in a big nest there.

Sightings in Oklahoma are almost unheard of

Not true. I hunt in SE Oklahoma and see them every single year. I’ve also seen them several times in Norman, OK. They are becoming more and more common in OK.

I can pretty much guarantee you’re liable to see them in far eastern Oklahoma as well.

Had that happen when I was fishing the tail waters below Beaver Lake. About 20 feet away just as I was casting. So cool.

golden eagles
I just Googled this because I wasn’t sure if I’d seen one. Not sure I’d know the difference between a golden eagle and a hawk.

I see them all the time. They're everywhere in south Louisiana.

Last week I saw one flanked by a pair of F18's. Obviously the jets were not really close to it, but the perspective made it appear they were formed up on it for a second. Really wish I could have gotten a picture of it.

I saw one yesterday crash a big egret party.
