Word of advice

Not all hotels have quality cleaning services. If the place is cheap, they hire cheap cleaning crews and it varies widely from top to bottom.

The bottom tier generally consist of people from the worst 3rd world countries who have a very different view of sanitation. They don’t use toilet paper to wipe themselves. They will clean their rags in toilets. They will wipe the glasses, counters, and garbage bins with those rags.
They do not use disenfectant in the showers and we know what people do in showers.
They wash linens and towels with no detergent. They rarely vaccuum and if they do, they don’t clean their vaccuum machine so it trails filth from room to room.

Its horrible. Don’t skimp on hotel stay. Pay more if you can.

Went to visit family in a very small town up north. Was told one of the hotels is nice and recently remodeled the other is sketchy but they did not remember which one they were both $70-80/ night.

I chose the wrong one first but swapped once I got there.

I also booked a motel called Alamo in baton rouge when evacuating. I left after an hour or so and decided to stay in Laffayette.

Oh lord. Should have asked the board.

These were actually a successful chain in the 50’s.

LSU - Georgia in 2013. America's best inn and suites or something like that in Athens. Place was just nasty all over. We went and bought cheap sets of sheets just so we could sleep Friday night, and of course didn't even touch the nasty comforters.

After the game Saturday we just got on the road, drove until we were too tired. Found a pristine Hampton inn in Auburn/Opelika. To us, it may as well have been the Waldorf.

And OP took me back to that f'in smell, and i thought about that nasty shite on and off all night.

It was almost as if the Cleaning ladies found it, and they tried to bribe each other to clean it, and No One took the bait, and original lady said frick it, there are other jobs at another hotel down the street or on a1a.

My wife and I were traveling with my parents years ago. My dad is the type person that drives 10 miles out of the way to save 2 cents a gallon on gas. He is the same way about hotels as long as they are a national brand. We were stopping at a city I previously lived in and he insisted on staying at a Super 8 motel. Being familiar with the area, I tried to tell him it wasn’t a good choice. I eventually obliged and we checked in. We stayed in the same room, to save money, and the first thing I did was pull back the sheets to look for body hair. There was hair on the sheets and he called to demand another room. After changing rooms he went to the bathroom and washed his face. When he went to dry it he grabbed a towel and began wiping his face but soon pulled it away. It smelled terrible and after closer examination he found feces on it. We didn’t stay in any more Super 8’s the rest of the trip.

Yep. The W in Buckhead, ATL is the biggest shithole I’ve ever stayed in. Forced them to put me in a partner hotel around 11:00pm one night it was so bad.

Asbestos, gas leaks, etc. Group of us stayed there for a conference and everyone got sick. It’s all modern and dressed up in gay crap on the outside, but they obviously just decorated over shite.

With all of the info available to you, this should almost never happen. The cheap brand hotels are cheap for a reason. Read reviews always.

Super 8 tells you all you need to know.

After a long haul from Casper to New Orleans we were on the stretch from Amarillo to Dallas. So tired we grabbed the first hotel with rooms in Wichita Falls. Best Western near the medical center. The front desk worker said he had to escort us to the room which seemed odd. The doors were heavily padlocked on the outside to keep people from kicking them in.

Left, poured a bottle of water over my head, grabbed a bad vat of truck stop coffee and somehow made it to Dallas and a Westin.

Most disgusting ever I didn't have to sleep in.

Had friends from college down for Mardi Gras and they had been previous and decided it would be a fun goof to stay at the Capri next to Nicks since Nicks was opened 24 hours for Mardi Gras.

Two rooms. One had a broken toilet and one had a broken shower. Every linen and towel had stains as well as the walls and lampshades. 6 guys were supposed to stay at my house and 10 at the hotel. By Fat Tuesday it was 16 at my house.

Yes, I used to travel a lot for work and stayed at some shady places. Left because of crime, and one time I inspected the bed and it was infested with bed bugs. Disgusting. Still gets me itchy just thinking about it.

Fort Lauderdale last year. Paid 3 nights at a hotel. Rolled in at 2am. Lobby was all marble looked nice. Drove around back and all you see are druggies and prostitutes everywhere. Got in room ( hot as balls) told kids to keep shoes and clothes on. Got three hours of sleep and packed up and got the hell out of there

If Arabs are owners you might as well look for another place

I was stranded in Houston due to airline mechanical issues. The airline put me up in the cheapest hotel they could. Got there after midnight.

I took one look at the bed, pulled back the stained comforter to expose equally nasty grayish sheets, and elected to sleep on the sofa after covering it up with every towel from the bathroom - the towels felt like brillo, but appeared to be cleaner. I thought about sleeping in the bathtub first.

My friends and I stayed at the Capri motel on Tulane in New Orleans. We were traveling in for a concert along with fans from other states. My first clue was when the out-of-staters picked up and left for another motel. Being the stupid college students we were, we decided to stay. Room smelled like vomit. The motel was the subject of a First 48 episode when someone got murked there.
