In town: $20/each.
Out of town: $40-50? I dunno.

Look the stuff over, check for damages, observe if they’re really taking their time with your junk. If you feel they deserve one, then give them one.

But yes, all home delivery/movers are butt hurt when they aren’t tipped.

These are people that have seen and know every valuable piece of furniture/electronics you have, so they know how much money you have and they know where all that nice expensive stuff lives. You have literally hired them to case the joint. Further, their life has gotten them to a point where a low paying job moving heavy things is how they make a living.

You tip them, fool.

Moved from Lafayette to Houston last weekend with 4 movers moving a family of 5. They packed us for 3 days then unpacked for a day after that. They moved lumber I had in my yard, and some heavy furniture I bought in Houston up the stairs. They went above and beyond so I tipped the 4 of them $100 each. Probably too much but I feel like they each earned it.

Had 3 guys of Latin decent unload 1 26' box truck full top to bottom. Guys didn't stop for 3 hours, tipped them $60 and didn't even think twice.

25% at least. If the movers price is comparably cheap to other movers, then go even higher.

I give them $20-30 each and a case of beer to split.

If its 2 movers, I'll give $40 each probably.

you dont tip ANYONE for doing a job they are already fully paid to do, unless they do something extra like carry your bags to your room or do something that caters to your needs.

you only tip waitresses because they get paid $2 an hour plus tips so tips are HOW they get paid.

waitress = tip

bell boy carrying your bags = tip

bar tender, lawn service, mail man, the guy at subway making your sandwich, movers, a/c repair guy, plumber = dont get tips unless they do something more then their normal job such as work a holiday or work way past normal working hours to take care of what you need

geez, people are getting so ridiculous with tipping they think they have to tip every single person they ever have any sort of paid service interaction with

Handshake and a slap on the back is all the thanks they need. They're not going to spit in your food and you'll never see them again.

Moving to Houston

You'll quickly find out it seems like half of Houston is from Louisiana or lived in LA for some time. Many never want to move back
