Phones are for everything except phone calls these days

Letting people go to voicemail and sending low importance emails make my day.

I make 40-50 work related calls every day

If I answered every call I get between 8-5, I’d never get any actual work done. Most of the time, it’s phone calls that could’ve been emails so I’ll get back to them when I can.

My wife is so bad about not answering her phone that I had to make one of my kids my emergency contact.

With the technology that we have in this day and age, there are better ways to reach out to people without unexpectedly disrupting whatever it is they may be doing at the time.
It is actually somewhat arrogant to expect people to just drop whatever they are doing in order to attend to your unsolicited interruption, unless that person happens to be a subordinate of yours.
If I need to talk to someone, most of the time I will text them first and ask if they are available.
If I do cold call, I don't expect them to answer. I have a speech prepared in advance to leave with their answering service. Pretty easy - my name, phone number and a brief description of why I need to talk to them.
If they do answer, I consider that to be a bonus.
If someone calls me, I don't normally answer unless it is someone returning one of my calls, or my 93-year-old mother.

If it takes more than 2 text or emails back and forth, pick up the phone or walk down the hall and have a conversation. I drill this into our company’s culture as a major function for success.

I try to stay on task during the day. Calls are an annoyance and only answer if I think it’s an emergency. Or the slack or texts require a conversation for clarity or something we don’t want documented.

Phone stays on silent.
Pro tip right there.
On a day when we are working on something massive and I’m in the field- phone has ringer on and text alerts.
Other days, phone is slienced and my assistant (yeah, I got one) gets all calls forwarded to her after 4 rings.
I see the calls come in on my Car Play- so 99% of the time I answer when I’m driving- which I do a pretty good amount of.
But, If I am working at my desk, speaking with an employee or customer, there us no way your call is getting answered by me.
I find it terribly rude to think the caller(as the OP has insinuated) believes they have priority over whatever the recipient is doing.

Then why are you making 200-250 calls a week? Something doesn’t make sense
