Power went out yesterday at 5. Two houses involved in the outage, mine and one a 1/4 mile down the road (two transformers tripped). The other house got power back at 10 last night while I’m still in the dark. Multiple phone calls since the original to re-report the outage and I still can’t get somebody out here to reset the fuse in less than 14 hours. Kiss my arse Entergy.

Not sure of the process but you can get credit for the time you have no power. Just keep a log of the hrs you have none.

I love when people make a fool of themselves with this statement.

Entergy is not like any other utility or service that is fee-based per month. Electricity is rate-based on your usage. So when you are not using Electricity, you are not charged for it (whether it is your fault or Entergy's).

You cannot request a refund for something you never had or paid for. For cable, you pay x$ to get cable for your entire billing cycle. Your fee is set for that cycle, that is why it works for services like cable.

Call the Public Service Commissioner and let them know what is going on. They will get entergy in check with the quickness.

In college, I moved into a rent house on a Saturday. Came home on a Wednesday to no power. Got the run around for hours trying to figure out what happened. Turns out the previous tenant, plus the rental company had not been paying the bill, so entergy thought it was okay to shut my power off and tell me it would be 7-10 days to get it resolved. Public service commissioner had my power on by 9pm that night.

ETA: Entergy is quite literally the worst company I have ever dealt with.

The billing period after Katrina, my bill was higher than the month before. Given I was without power for 2 weeks after the storm, aaaannnnd being the curious person I am, I questioned the amount. When I called Entergy, I was told my meter was physically read on "8/29 at 6:30 AM." I pressed her asking if she had any idea whatsoever was happening in south LA during that time & date...she had no clue.

While I was ready to press the issue, I decided I'd rather not get "disconnected by mistake" if I made too much of a stink.

Yeah, Entergy can hug a fuggin' root.

Somewhat similar situation where I went on a 13-day vacation a few years back. Everything in the house was powered off, including the AC. My bill that month (part of monthly cycle I was gone) was about $50 more than usual and showing an increased usage. This was before I had the Entergy app to see the actual usage per day/week so I was beyond perplexed how that was possible. Called entergy about it and they basically told me that's what the meter was showing, and they really couldn't do anything about it.

From that day on, I kind of looked at Entergy bills like I was in an idiocracy world where they just spin a wheel and whatever dollar amount it lands on determines everyone's bill. I obviously can't live without power so what the hell am I supposed to do? I chalked this one up as a permanent loss years ago.

Lights back on after 17 hours. Dude literally pulled up, jumped out, reset the fuse, took less than 5 minutes. frick Entergy.

Here is the kicker. I had to call my nephew who is a lineman for Entergy in Texas. He called a buddy of his that works for them in LA and that finally got someone to my house.

I wouldn’t doubt it. I wouldn’t put anything by the fricks.

Actually if we got put in time out it would be because of the Irish/German redhead I’m married to. I’m way nicer than her

That is correct.

Every utility passes down costs to their customers. Just like every other business...

Make sure it's a metal pole if you find one.

Except utility companies get a guaranteed margin because they're a regulated monopoly. There's no incentive to lower rates or be efficient because theres no market competition.

Next time tell them you’re using the pole from your pool skimmer to reset it. They’ll be out instantly. Worked for me with downed lines. Told them I’d go move it out the road.
