1.) Immediately start smoking again.
2.) Try heroin
3.) Fly to Vegas and max out a couple credit cards.
4.) Return home, make preparations, go out in a blaze of glory.

max out a couple credit cards.
Always wondered if you were going to die and decided to max out some credit cards “in your name only” would your wife be responsible for the charges after you die?
How do they settle up credit card debt after death on cards that are in the deceased name only?

Whatever is on this list is what you should be doing now. Why wait?

Pray to God for forgiveness and mercy. Go to confession. Pray the rosary.
Write long letters to each of my children and to my wife (for them to read after my death).

In your case it might go okay without a will. Comment to OP was more general about the need for a will without getting into his details about family, kids, real property, car titles, taxes, etc...

If you have a joint checking account make sure the names on the account are separated by "or" and not "and".
ex. (John or Mary Doe).

When my dad was in his seventies, he started reviewing his finances and legal affairs with me once a year, and he gave me an itemized list of bank accounts & insurance policies. This was invaluable to me after he passed. I'm about to do the same for my kids. I recommend it, if you have trustworthy adult children.
