We need to bring back mental health institutions. I don’t know what can be done to ensure the same mistakes aren’t made but the need for the facilities is real.
You have to pump real money in them to get the best Drs, support staff and programs. And there need to be 3 times the facilities there were in the past.

We have problems with shitty parents not doing their jobs and when kids turn out like them, they drop off in ER and abandon them. Been a big problem for past 1 1/2 yrs here.

Tell that to the parents with dead children in Uvalde, TX.

Think about what kids today hear constantly:
Bad news
And ALOT of them think they have no future because the selfish Boomers have ran the national deficit up to ridiculous amounts that are impossible to recover from. They think they have no future because of climate change. They think they have no future because of the number of racist, rich, evil, religious, straight, white men who are out there to keep them poor and abuse them.
I'm not kidding - I have three teenage nephews who believe this without a doubt. They've often wondered what the use is in even working at all. That is their mindset. Of course, they also live in Oregon where liberal indoctrination runs rampant. But that is how they view reality.
And to add - all three of them have grown up in a Mormon household with both of their parents remaining married - and they reject Mormonism (as many young Mormon kids are doing - as in most other organized religions). They are also all seeing therapists or psychiatrists and take meds for psychological reasons (ADHD, etc).

it’s also usually followed by,
“y’all are still complaining about that?”
“it wasn’t that big of a deal”
“at the time, we did what we thought was best”
as if we didn’t know the impacts of COVID on children early on, nothing.

I work in a children’s hospital. It’s incredibly hard to get kids psych help

Many of today’s kids are lost. As the poster above said, they’re pounded with negativity daily. Far too many are growing up in single parent/guardian households with no real guidance. COVID shut down their socialization at critical times in their development. It’s a terribly sad situation.

Tell us about JFK Jr coming back and Trump leading the US in a govt in exile, or Joe Biden not really being the president or in the White House, just a film set. Or about the nanobots and trackers in the vaccines. Or the Storm and the White Hats coming per Q. Or the military raids of Dominion servers in Europe. Or the spirit cooking and Hillary drinking blood for adrenochrome. And on and on with the nutty bullshite that you conspiracists conveniently forget.

Relax, my man. I’m pretty sure that shirt is intended to be satirical, based on the fact that it was created by the Babylon Bee. My post after that was my seriousness post.
For the record, the only one of those conspiracy theories that you listed that I’ve ever even heard of is the Hillary/adrenochrome thing.

The good news is that when they're ready for their transitioning surgery, they can get it done without having to worry about the doctors telling their nosy old parents. Good old Oregon.

Yep, as I stated, too many of them don’t have the needed parental guidance in their lives to confront and help overcome that confusion.

All true. Wake up sheeple.

Richest country in the history of mankind and there’s zero resources for mental health, even for kids. Great operation we have here.
Posted on 8/19/23 at 1:59 pm to RLDSC FAN
There are fewer psychiatric beds in this country than there were in 1955. People here will pretend like they have a solution to this, which will conveniently happen to align directly with their perceived societal grievance, but rebuilding that health system at the state and federal level is not going to be politically popular.
Nothing is going to be done, ultimately.

think of how many mental hospitals we couldn’t built with that Ukraine money.

There is a shite load of resources for mental illness, they just mainstream people today instead of institutionalize them.
Those calling for institutions to return need to think hard about that one. Its basically prison.
