Isn't there a major problem of some sort with Teslas at the moment?

Does the OT teally want this?
Posted on 1/10/16 at 4:08 pm to N2cars
I don't even want an automatic transmission, much less an automatic car.

I dont see how thats possible when you think of all the non-autonomous drivers out on the road. He seems like the type of guy that would say things like this for attention/investors.

Yes, there are issues. I think he should focus on making Tesla's affordable and more available instead of jumping the gun and making them autonomous. I mean, Tesla's are mostly only available to very wealthy. So Im guessing his goal has nothing to do with carbon emissions and greenhouse gases?

In fairness, the article said that a) Musk agrees that the prediction is "optimistic" and b) having the ability does not mean that Teslas will actually be driving themselves all over the country in two years minus a week.

The model S is about $75k. Hardly only for the "very wealthy", and the Model 3, which will be around $35k, is scheduled to be released next year.
Pretty sure one of the smartest businessmen on the planet has thought it through.

Musk has a very ardent pack of fanboys on the OT.

The near future, most people will not own cars. They'll summon a driverless car from an app on their phone/device when they need one.

I believe this and can't wait. The entire concept of car ownership will eventually dissolve.
