Cultural representation is a huge topic of concern in TV and film.
I would bet that this move is to prevent the normalization of gun usage for children as they grow up.

They shouldn't be. Classics should be left alone.
Although they did have a sitcom a few years back with all those characters. They were basically all retired actors and lived in Hollywood. Nowhere near as good as the original, but they created girlfriends for Bugs and Daffy. Lola Bunny was a great character and made it worthwhile.
