Stop rioting, looting, and gangbanging every weekend and the police wouldnt need budget for military grade crowd control gear. Dont beleive me? Go to any small town with low crime rates and see if police have this type of equipment.

Back in the early 90s, when crime was truly out of control and hurting the black community, it was black leaders who supporter more law enforcement and harsher sentencing. Clinton gave them that. And crime fell.

Honestly, I don't think people who are backing #DefundThePolice actually agree on what the goal is.
I've seen some say the goal is to disband the police totally 100%, as they commit most of the crime in the US.
I've seen some say the goal is to disband the police so that they can build it back up to not be racist.
I've seen some say the goal is to defund police until they show they are willing to stop killing black people.
Then I've seen some say the goal is to defund police and invest more into mental health. Police would still exist to go after robberies, and murder suspects. But to deal with other "less dangerous" issues such as people getting into a fight, domestic disputes, an individual with known mental issues, traffic stops, homeless people, etc. On-call, unarmed social workers and mental health therapists would be dispatched for all these various things.
Basically, this whole thing is unorganized as shite. People don't really even know what they want. But I guess that's what happens when you try to start an entire movement based off of hashtags.
