she created a company with a fake product that didn't actually work, surrounded herself with support from bankers and politicians, and convinced investors to give her 9 figures worth of venture capital startup to do it....

Actually, I think there is a little bit of both. She had this idea that she would do something that would change the world and save lives and once she figured out how she wanted to do it, she was so focused on making it happen that she didn't want to believe her idea wasn't possible.
But her business ethics were questionable at best.

Sociopath that was given far too much latitude because of social justice and the need for the media (financial) to latch onto any woman who they think will be more successful than men.
