when I was 15, I probably thought an "investment banker" was some schlub selling mutual funds at Legg Mason. Some people are just social climbers, though.

When I was 15, I *did* want to be a banker at Goldman Sachs, Lehman Brothers, UBS, etc., I was able to frick around on the internet enough to find out about Exeter, Andover, etc., and the subsequent pipeline.

I asked my dad if I could go and he just laughed his arse off.

ETA: I almost went to Woodberry Forest

While I did not board, went to a private high school in NoVa. Have very good friends that attended Fork Union, Woodberry, Mercersburg, St. Paul’s, Episcopal in Alexandria (know the bball head coach very well). Also had friends that went to Northfield Mount Hermon and Exeter.

In hindsight, wish I attended a boarding school.

I was (93-95). I met Kevin once or twice. I went back for Colonel Jenrettes memorial service at the school a few years ago.

My best friend went to Chote. He went to Georgetown under/law. Wound up in NC because of a girl.

Nothing really sticks out about him, he is smart and hardworking. Given his background (both parents are partners at Kirkland Ellis) he was always extremely frugal. I remember when he was a 5th year associate he was pissed he had to replace his car, he was driving a 7 yo Corolla at the time. He bought a Civic. He and his wife were making well over 400 grand and it was the late 1990's. I would not doubt he is one of the wealthiest attorneys in our firm because they still don't spend money at anything like their means.

Good guy, great family, and his parents are some of the nicest people in the world just like him you would never know when they leave for work they turn into a shark-pit bull hybrid.

My friend who went to Woodberry also went to Ole Miss.

As a parent, I can’t imagine spending all that money on boarding school for the kid to end up at Ole Miss.

I wanted to work for Enron, but that was when I was more like 19-20. Even back then I knew Enron was the shite.

My grandfather and uncle went to Woodbury forest. My grandpa you would never guess that, he is a typical rancher. A buddy from high school went to Woodbury also but ended up transferring to my school because his grades weren’t good enough, I think. People definitely only send their kids there for the connections. He rushed a top fraternity at ole miss just cause some of the kids he met at Woodbury went there. His family is loaded and own a resort so he didn’t really need the connections for work lol.

Woodbury is elite.

Culver Military Academy. He was a real discipline problem and hated that school.
My cousin went to Culver. Seemed to turn out okay, graduated from Notre Dame.

Visited Culver during some of their summer family events, really beautiful campus. We would stay right on the lake.

Yep. I had a buddy in college who went to Subiaco Academy in Arkansas. His parents were divorced and neither seemed to want him around to cramp their singles lifestyle. He was a mess and ended up in rehab midway through the spring semester of our freshman year.

The boarding school is called St. Andrews or something like that

I think y'all are talking about McCallie, as the boarding school near Sewanee. Great school.
