Need to get a lawn mower for the house. Was looking on amazon and came across an electric one. Anyone have one and thoughts on it?
Also any other affordable suggestions on one will be accepted. Thanks

I have the Worx robot for a small fenced in yard. Wonderful purchase.

The 80v line from kobalt is actually pretty useful. I was surprised at how powerful the weed eater was and it uses the same battery as the mower. The weed eater also has changeable attachments. As for the mower, it’s great if you have a small yard.
If your neighbor calls you gay, just frick his wife next time he’s busy changing the oil.

I had a Ryobi electric mower. I liked it because of not having the hassle of gas, it started immediately, and it was relatively quiet.
Just get one with at least a 40v battery.

My dad won an electric riding mower from registering tools and such he bought. They called him up one day and asked him when he would be home to accept delivery and a semi showed up at their house with a new battery powered riding mower in a crate. He’s had it about 2 years and loves it. It’s quiet as hell and does a good job on the yard. Bonus was that I was the recipient of the 1 year old Cub Cadet he already had.

I'll second that. 1/4 acre lot with a decent amount of landscaping, so my actual grass that needs to be cut is miniscule. We were going on vacation the day after I was working all weekend while my wife had a day off, so I bought one of these so she could cut the grass. I've used it since. I bought the weed-eater along with it to grab a second battery, but I've never had less than 60% after finishing the yard.
Seems well built and like it will last a comparable amount of time vs gas mowers.

My father bought us a Craftsman 60 volt lawnmower.
I did front and back on one charge, it was a lot quieter than my other mower and no worry about ethanol gas.

True...but now you have to worry about that expensive battery crapping out unexpectedly

I have one and agree here - 40V. I only have about 500sqft of lawn (zyosia) and its good to have 2 batteries if you choose to pick up clippings. Also in the summer it has to be mowed every week or it'll get too thick for the electric. That's the only draw back, but again, it only takes me 15-20 mins to mow.
I laugh at the chumps always having to deal with gas, fuel filters, and clogged carbs.
I've even converted one neighbor who is a diesel mechanic for CAT.

Have the 60v Craftsman push version as well. Have had it since July ish. Very quiet, which is great for summer mornings at 7 am. Really got it so I didn't have to mess with gas etc. I paid around $200 I think, it was on sale at Lowe's. Hoping there's a knockoff battery that eventually comes out

I have this one as well. Not much louder than a box fan, push button start, extremely light and I don't have to worry about gas or oil. Uses the same batteries as my other Ryobi tools. If you think an electric lawn mower is "gay" you are pretty fricking insecure in your manhood.

There is no argument for a gas powered one over it, just none for my set up at least.
If you have a huge yard and/or take 2 hours or so to mow your lawn, that would be the only argument against it. For most regular sized lawns, it's a no brainer.

I have an eGo and couldn't be happier. Got tired of rebuilding carbs annually and made the switch. It's quiet and my garage doesn't reek of gas anymore.

Also, it can stand up, so it takes up lot less room. I can also pick it up with one hand to put it in the back of my truck. The people questioning the manliness of an electric mower would probably need some help, though.

There actually were electric lawnmowers 50 years ago. Power cord and all. Used one several times until...well, you can guess what could go wrong with that kind of inherent design flaw. Electric cord, whirling steel blades, male teenager.
