It's a wonder he wasn't killed. How the hell did he live so long?

He was the head of the teamsters union in BR back in its hay day and testified against Jimmy Hoffa. I knew his bodyguard “Buddy” back when he was alive and heard a few stories. Who the heck knows what was true, they were all accomplished liars.

Probably didn't die because there were more important people to worry about and the mob was tired of Hoffa by then anyway. It was Hoffa's fault allegedly for even speaking around him solely under the assumption that because he was from La, he was aligned with OC out of New Orleans.

A friend of mine is a close relative of theirs. He gave me the book to read because my father and uncle were in the Teamsters. After reading the book, I did more research on him and the Teamsters around BR. Very eye opening on what went on.

Sleepytime, was his name Buddy York?

He was a lying POS. Ratted out Hoffa (possibly lied about that too, who knows) and then ran the Local #5 as a pseudo mafia type. For several years the Fed's protected him as their star witness, but soon enough was enough and they allowed him to be prosecuted for some of the myriad of crimes he committed.
He and Ted Dunham Sr went to jail on several federal counts, and Ted Dunham got a high end private school named after him in Baton Rouge.

Just the amount of corruption managing the local Teamsters union.
Also this article shows a few ties to him and the JFK assassination.

a character playing him is in the Irishman Movie, and the book as well. He definitely ratted on Hoffa and wore a wire and testified.

It's fascinating how much Baton Rouge was connected to Hoffa / Teamsters / Kennedy in the 60's and early 70's.
Some of the biggest union battles were here in BR. Cars blown up, serious fights on the picket lines, wiretaps, extortion, conspiracy, kidnapping. We had it all going on right here in BR.
Partin and Dunham going to jail tarnished the Teamsters and played a big part of Louisiana becoming a right to work state.
Fun fact: EBR has had to spend BILLIONS in the last 10 years upgrading sewer infrastructure because Partin and Dunham got Woody Dumas to change the pipe spec to allow for an inferior spec to be used that Dunham sold. It failed miserably all over the parish and we are still fighting it and paying dearly.

They fire bombed his brother’s house in Baker at one point when they thought he was hiding out there.
