bro, you are completely out of your element here... it's ok... but I'd quit, if I were you, while I'm ahead....

So traces of phosphine is life on venus, but a heartbeat isn’t life on earth.

Weird how that works isn’t it?

So now the “law of averages” is part of the scientific method huh? Regardless of observation, it must be true!!

Yes, because things only exist if we can observe them.

I don’t think you know what “law of averages” and “scientific method” actually mean.

I am of the belief that finding evidence of simple life in the universe would be amongst the worst news ever for humanity.

It means the "great filter" is more likely to be ahead of us than something we miraculously passed through already.

Hmm. I would have the opposite take. If there is microbial life on Venus, then there is certainly more microbial life within our stellar cluster, our nearest neighbors, the Milky Way, Andromeda etc.

Knowing this, one would think - if the Filter were ahead of us - we would have heard from somebody by now.

We ain’t heard shite.

After looking into the Great Filter theory, what would it take to convince countries to start diverting major resources towards planetary colonization? Would it take a private company or a rival country to do it first? And will we even accomplish this task?

TL;DR life in the universe progresses, but is always stopped by some event, never allowing it to hit a max potential. Some people claim it is the reason why we can't see evidence of life around other planets.

Total BS. Where is the scientific experiment?
This is obviously in the early stages of the method.

Do you think we can say there is potential life anywhere based on IR telescopes etc from millions of mikes away?
Yeah, we can make a lot of predictions based on what we already know. What follows is years of more study and scrutiny.

They still trying to prove evolution , huh?
No, evolution has been proven to occur via thousands of experiments and findings of evidence. Few things are more thoroughly proven than evolution.

Finding life on other plants may help us to better understand evolution and abiogenesis, though.

Interesting. I’d love to see a collection of probes that have a satellite or two orbiting Venus and acting as a communication hub with Earth like some of the ones orbiting Mars and then send down several probes that are giant balloons that just float around in the thick Venusian atmosphere looking for signs of life. It’s Earths twin so who knows maybe there is some sort of ancient life that still managed to survive the global warming there. And by being balloons they could stay afloat for a long time (have several just in case though) and then send the data up to the orbiting satellite then onto earth.

For those interested here’s a short thread where this was discussed (the premise of the OP was teaching evolution and intelligent design in schools but then there was some good discussion on the topic of evolution in general). Quick read and might help to clarify the topic
