I’m fully aware of of the boundaries for the proposed city of St. George. I use Shenandoah as a sarcastic example because in my opinion it is the nucleus that most of SE BR grew from and it appears to be ground zero for the movement.
As for an ISD, I fully support the notion of ISDs as long as it doesn’t mean the formation of a new city in the area that I truly believe is Baton Rouge.
I believe we just missed the best path to ISDs when we failed to elect Bodi White. At this point we could have had a Mayor lobbying the legislature and selling it to the community that we need to make ISDs happen. I also believe that you can make it happen by electing a mayor, council members, and school board officials that are in favor of ISDs. As 20% of the voting base this is a strong enough block to push these ideas through. In my opinion forming a new city is not the way to go.

The organizers came very close to getting the ISD six or seven years ago, but Dems in the legislature stopped em close to the necessary 2/3s vote they needed.
The organizers were advised to form a city and come back to the legislature. The thinking being that there are several precedents for cities forming an ISD.
I think it's wishful thinking on your part that Bodi White or any Republican mayor could get the Dems in our parish to recommend to the legislature that SG be granted an ISD. James, Broome and the others weren't going to ever do that.

You're never going to get conservative leadership in EBR with the current demographics. Better to incorporate an unincorporated area that is more conservative.

So are you saying your unincorporated property identifies as incorporated?

bullshite.
EBR Metro Council is 7-5.
Bodi White, who might have been the worst candidate possible, fell 4,000 votes short of Broome. Bodi. White.

I'm guessing you didn't look at the numbers from the 2016 runoff.
Bodi needed less than 4% more registered voters to show up to the polls in South BR, Central, and Zachary and he wins.

It’s not the demographics. It’s the fact that less than half the people that bothered to register to vote actually make it to the polls.
This is actually pretty appalling after witnessing what lengths the citizens of Bosnia went through during their fist elections in 1998.

How is st George any different that Zachary, baker, and central?
The people living in these other areas created a city in unincorporated parts of the parish.
It may have been much more common in the 1800's and 1900's. But it's not like it is unknown territory.
If the people living in this area want to make their own city, and later try to make a school district, what's wrong with that.... for them?
Leaving out the motivations of the people in BR city. What is the core reasons against it?

Horseshoes and hand grenades. I'm as conservative as they come, but EBR Demographics and the Republicans inability to run a quality candidate means it'll be a long time before a conservative is in charge here.
