I’ve got an Eco weed eater that’s fantastic. Good power plus just buy the precut string, feed it and push a button to load

Let’s get child slaves to mine our batteries so we don’t have to use evil gasoline.

Men disagreeing about gas vs. electric yard equipment is turning me on.

Good question regarding the life of the batteries since repeated charging cycles never return the batteries to their original output.
Most lithium cells are rated for something like 300 to a few thousand full charge cycles, and you can roughly figure double the cycles if you only use half the charge. Mowing weekly for say 40 weeks out of the year they should last a decade. Time will tell.

No they don't. Electric motors don't choke like gas engines. I have had Honda's and Ego's and Ego mowers never choke no matter what you give them. Sure the battery might not last as long but they will power through some shite that would choke out a Honda. There are valid criticisms of Ego mowers, but this is not one.

What I cut would laugh at that deck. The batteries/motor may not be the culprit of the choking/bogging down, but that little bitty arse deck wouldn't stand a chance, especially if the grass was wet at all.

We have a battery powered weed eater and I bought the tiller attachment for it to till my garden. It repeatedly got stuck anytime it got into dirt that was remotely sticky
Is it a small battery pack or a large one? I ask because it may not have been getting stuck but rather the over-current protection might have kicked in. Two packs of the same voltage, if one has twice the amp-hours then each of the cells inside it will only discharge at half the rate of the smaller pack. So if the motor wants to draw more amps a bigger pack can do it.

Every battery powered something of the other that I've ever had has come with a bunch of "shoulds". I have a few dead batteries kicking around that dispute those "shoulds". Entirely anecdotal, I know, but the marketing claims of batteries never really even factors into my decision to buy something or not. I go into it with the understanding that most of it is perfect world scenarios at best and complete bullshite at worst.

I hear ya, and I've had the same experience with some brands. I used to have a cheap craftsman drill and two batteries shite the bed real quick. I have dewalt stuff now and they are holding up really well. I've used some milwaukee tools in a machine shop that have been through the ringer and they still put out. I'm sure some have had these "good" brand batteries go bad far too soon, but overall they're quality and I think Ego is up there with them.

I usually keep a cell phone for about 3 years (so about a thousand full charges) before the battery goes to shite.

As with most things, you get what you pay for and batteries are no different. There will be lemons and there will be good ones, but the odds are better if you buy quality.

Ego has a 3 year warranty on their batteries (and I think 5 years on the big mower packs) and they are really good about replacements. It would suck if mine broke right after 3 years, but for me that's over 100 uses. Ballparking for a string trimmer here that might save me $50 in gas, a couple hours from not dealing with fuel, and probably a few more hours not dealing with filters and misc other maintenance. Probably worth the $150 for a new pack for me assuming it dies just out of warranty.

My gas mower died and I went to look at new options and all the Ryobis were cheaper then any single gas mower. Even the trash yard machines.

After a few weeks, you need multiple batteries to do my half acre yard, but it’s not terrible. Definitely doesn’t choke out like a gas mower.

We have an Ego mower, weed eater, & leaf blower. They’re amazingly quiet and cut well (according to my H). An electric riding mower seems excessive, but everything Ego we’ve gotten has been great.

My ego push mower has been rocking along for over 2 years on the original battery. Never had an issue with battery drain or stalling no matter how high the grass is and I run a dual blade.

The riding mower probably sucks down some juice hauling around an OT baw though. That’s a lot of bud light to move around.

I had the 80 volt push mower self propelled greenworks. I'd say comparable to basically every electric in that voltage and price range.

Layed 9 pallets of zoysia sod in the backyard. I had a gas mower as well, my OCD didn't want the Bermuda from the front bringing something to my fresh sod so I cut the front with my gas mower and the back with the electric.

If I cut one a week the 45-60 minute supposed run time would not cut 9 pallets of sod. I had to cut twice a week to get it in one cut.

Yes, it cut great (evenly and nice afterwards)
Yes, it was convenient
It bogs down worse than gas
When it bogs it demolishes the battery life
It was heavy as hell with the battery in it

“Eco” Riding Lawmower

The name is EGO, not Eco. They sell battery-operated products. I don't recall seeing them pretending to be an eco-type company any more than every other company. I personally prefer not fricking with gas and fumes. My mower is still gas, but my ego trimmer and blower are great. I'm looking for my gas mower to crap out so I have an excuse to replace my self-propelled mower.

How the frick is this better??

Personal preference.

I've used the push mower b/c my neighbor has one. It's a good quality. It cuts my st aug just as good as my toro.

They make great products, I have a few and I have zero complaints over the last two years.

Never experienced this issue, sounds like your lawn is shitty.
