EBT Card system at Walmart are down

I have seen a few posts on fb about people bitching about the EBT system at Walmart is down.
Then one of my “friends” (I have no fricking idea who she is) posts a pic later in the day of her eating a steak at some fancy restaurant in Mobile, AL
So how exactly does this EBT thing work? I might just hop on that system so I can eat good steaks and seafood dinners

You can buy damn near anything with it including steak
The EBT program needs to be revamped bigly
And should require photo id to use since so many people sell them for cash to buy liquor, cigs, drugs and lotto tickets

Typically when EBT is “down”, Walmart waves through people because the gubment will make it good.
There have been flash mobs before when this happened and as soon as the system is back up, huge carts of groceries are abandoned.

I've been seeing more and more businesses with signs at the entrance letting folks know that EBT is down. A friend who owns a convenience store said he has a permanent sign that say EBT is down because he doesn't want to deal with it anymore.

Always found it fascinating how some people can't project letter spacing requirements when handwriting signs.
Even worse is not getting a new sheet of paper and creating a corrected five word sign.

One of our kids is special needs. He is on "disability" but he doesn't actually get any money because we make too much money, it is just so he has seniority on the list to be eligible for a caregiver later in life. Randomly he gets letters that he has an EBT balance. We have no idea why, they say he qualifies because of school or some crap. We just buy him a bunch of food he likes with it, no need to waste it. Sometimes it is $30, sometimes it is $300... and it is very sporadic.
I 100% would like to see the program limited more like WIC
Oh, and no steaks for us (with this money) Its is chicken tenders, mandarin oranges, nutri grain bars, raisons and peanuts for the most part.
