And should require photo id to use since so many people sell them for cash to buy liquor, cigs, drugs and lotto tickets

If you know how to shop for sales, and buy food stamps for 50 cents on the dollar, you can pay around 75% less for groceries.

Food stamps should be nothing more than a sack of beans and rice you can pick up once a month. No reason it should just be money loaded onto a card that you can buy all kinds of junk with

Do this and watch how fast the problem corrects itself

it’s boiled crawfish (already cooked and hot) - then that is not an allowable purchase

I've seen it several times, they'll just ring it up as something else.

What does the acronym EBT even stand for? Specifically, the E and T.

I have no idea. A stab in the dark would be "Electronic Benefit Transfer".

I’m asking because the person who was on Facebook bitching that the EBT system was down was also posting pics later on of her big steak she just bought at a fancy restaurant the same day

In Louisiana - the food stamp department takes fraud seriously - the problem are the liars are good liars

But if you report the fraud, it’s actually checked

No, no, no. I’m a liar and a drama queen. I’ve also seen in several times, but I can’t say for sure if any of them were outside the “disaster” exception.

Lol -it’s getting harder to ring up things that are not food stamp eligible as food stamp bc of the stores’ computer systems and bar codes - a lot of stores do not have manual overrides at the registers anymore -managers aren’t willing to lose their jobs for that - at smaller stores and gas stations - for sure it happens

However, back in the day it was easy, and was done very often

(And yes I used to work for food stamps )
