But I thought dude was sad because of boring desk duty. How is that tense?

he was on desk duty for having to shoot someone in the line of duty and the investigation into that was on-going... if I'm someone who would rather be patrolling the streets... I'm pacing the halls like a caged tiger until they clear me and put me back on the beat

so yeah... anxious & tense go together

And you're projecting here. Officer himself said he felt Clark "was being silly in an effort to cheer him up." Not trying to calm him down or whatever you do for anxious and tense. You can do mental gymnastics all you want, but it's just not there. It's not like these officers would have an iota of issue with testifying how street savvy they are, yet this.

I’ll be the dissenting opinion I suppose that thinks it was appropriate to fire him over this. Law enforcement has the power to use their discretion on when to use lethal force. Him joking like this after killing someone (even justly) erodes the public confidence that the decision is being made in a fair and busy manner. None of us should want a police force that jokes about killing its citizens

I'm more offended that EBR has deputies this fricking dumb working for them than I am that he shot a thug. The thug tried to run him down - he deserved to be killed. What is appalling though is that this is a practice among cops. That's just uncalled for and asking to be targeted. What a dumbass.

I will never understand the need to document every minor fricking detail of one’s life.

Dark humor is a well known coping practice. Any medical professional can tell you that. I know of career doctors fired for this type of shite. Fact of the matter is you have to be a moron to put something like this over text. Usually it’s just an instance of something being overheard by a bystander and then it’s “he said, she said”. In this instance, they took all doubt away by taking pics.

Doesn't erode my confidence. The use of the word citizen to describe the criminal he shot erodes my confidence in people like you.

That's utter crap. Completely implausible.

Making light of a stressful situation ( having to take a human life then be investigated ) is a very normal thing. Biggest issue here is that they felt the need to turn it into a big deal to get ahead of the faux outrage from the community of it got out

You saying he intentionally moved into the path of the driver, to justify pulling the trigger? If so, I'll buy it.

I sort of hear ya here.

It does take a certain type of person to be a cop, IMO.

At least for the most part you almost have to be somewhat of an a-hole. Maybe not fully ahole, but you probably need some coldness in you to deal with certain incidents.

Maybe I'm wrong and everyone can be Andy Griffith, but they sure do have to put up with some ish.

What this deputy did is definitely a bad look though.

Thats funny, cause when I used to be Tugg'n it & Rubb'n it, down in the cut on Sesame Street, the tear drops the homies sported was to show one lost a homie to the game. Never knew any Tugg's who claimed it was from cashin in from a dropped bag. Tugg's dont shed tears when they take fools out. Tugg's shed tears when they wonder bout a homie and if there is a Heaven for a Prankster, Prankster Uhhhhhnnn!

I doubt anything that calculated happened. More likely, the cop panicked. He may not have even meant to pull the trigger. A lot of cops seem to carry those Glock thingies now, which don't have a true safety or a double-action trigger pull, and this shite happens more often than gets acknowledged.

What I know, from reading police reports about incidents where I was present, is that cops' statements about vehicle proximity, direction, etc. are unreliable. If every cop who'd "almost" been struck by a vehicle had in fact been struck, we wouldn't have any cops left. That's what's implausible- all those convenient near misses.
