Pretty sure her husband posts here, if he isn’t already in this thread.

And she will continue to vote democrat. And another democrat will fill her seat. And the cycle will continue, spiraling to a complete collapse.

She didn’t “sign up” for this. She campaigned for it. Spoke to voters. Convinced them to vote for her.

Easy cop out, you knew what you were signing up for.
But did she really? You really don’t know what is going on until you get inside.

I don’t know how it came out but I’d imagine it was something like this: 1. Katie comes up with one really smart idea. Presents it to school board and they shite all over it. 2. Katie comes up with one really smart second idea. Presents to school board and they shite all over it. 3. Katie says “I gotta get the frick out of here…”
In order for that scenario to have happened, the superintendent and his staff would have had to first entertain ideas from the elected members. Apparently the board itself is not really getting an opportunity to discuss their ideas. Lots of closed-door meetings between the superintendent and his staff.
The single proposal presented at the contentious board meeting a couple of weeks ago had not been seen be any board member prior to the meeting. Their input is not welcome or valued (it appears).
I can understand why she resigned.

This. She's being praised for quitting on the folks that believed in her. Lame. If corruption exist, use your platform to expose it.

If that dumbass Connie Bernard would have dropped out of the race properly instead of quiet quitting and keeping her name in the race, Joe Britt wins the seat in the first election and there is no runoff.

Change is hopeless with the liberals now. They’ll never see the fallacy of their ways, despite being driven out of their own towns by bad policy. They just press on. Policies Fail 1000 times out of 1000 and still vote for the same policy, same people. Democrat run areas will be uninhabitable-many are largely that way now.

If you saw what she wore to the meetings every month and the stupid questions she asked at every meeting than you have your answer on why she quit
It was embarrassing

School boards in La should do like they do in Texas. Don't pay them.
Not the Louisiana way.

Ours get $800/month. I’m not sure that really influences anyone.
People who want to get in to politics get elected to school boards to build campaign funds with money from groups who profit off of school systems so they can then run for bigger offices.
Kennison ran because she was a concerned parent.

Board members hire and fire superintendents and they set policy (including the budget).
If a super isn’t doing what you want the solution is clear - fire him. She does not have the backing of a majority of the board members and the likely reason she doesn’t would not shock anyone.
This super is openly going after other jobs and is not a native. Talk about being a cuckolded board as a whole. Guy doesn’t want to be here but let’s keep him around.

quote:The message pretty much said “Washington Parish Public Schools are a shitshow. Get your kids out of them if you can.”
Maybe so, I know that the Washington Parish school board approved raises for some of the people at the school board but nothing for anyone else, and that’s what got things going up here. A couple days last week we would get a message about contact your bus driver and breakfast and lunch would still be available, Friday morning at 6:02 the message pretty much said keep your kids at home.

She is a cop out.
If a person makes a commitment to something they should follow through.
Unless you have medical issues or things that happen out of your control.
They would hate me on the school board.
I would go to meetings with a rocking flat top, coaches whistle, coaches shorts, and coach shirt.
Then I would have real magnet programs.
Real vo tech type school with real world training in Hvac, diesel tech, auto tech, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry both finish & framing.
I would work with the mfg’s to get these kids on getting their feet wet in the basics and up to date techniques.
They would still learn the basics Math, English, science, computer literacy, history, and PE.
Have performing arts school.
Medical focused school.
Computer technology school.
Business school accounting, marketing, sales, and management.
Except my programs would be hands on. Teachers, that don’t mean sleeping with students. Means giving the kids the basic skills and adding some newer techniques in that field.
Then have your basic Magnet schools. Have 3 in the system. 1 in North, 1 in South, and BR High.
Then I would go back to neighborhood schools.
Then have 1 school for trouble makers. Have it run with former drill sergeants and coaches as they know how to deal with punk as$ kids. In groups and 1 on 1 to help the kids. People that deal with young adults, especially young adults with behavioral problems know how to deal with these kids to turn them around.
Problem is they try to mimick this.
They don’t follow through with real world training.

They aren’t liberals, they are socialists borderline commies in many cases.

That's why no one worth a damn doesn't run for anything, no one wants to deal with that shite.
This is the sad part. There are good people who could fix things, but it's virtually impossible in today's world. So everything just gets worse.

You should run for the school board. You already have a plan.

They actually have the bolt and nuts.
They just don’t know how to put them together. They mean well. There no let’s do it, how do we do it, let’s get a budget to do it, let’s go to outside industry to do it, and finally a get it done attitude.
Again, we as adults need to make this change for our community.
My kids are grown and successful. Some kids need more help and that is all our jobs as adults to help them.
I am huge proponent of going back to neighborhood schools for school & community spirit.
I do understand we do need specialized programs to help kids who need more mental stimulation to find their path in life.
We also need teachers and mentors to help these kids.
It also means as adults we should not be having sex with minors.
We should not accept fighting in school.
We should not have parents fighting with school employees, bus drivers, or kids, especially at school.
Unfortunately, everyone is about everything, but helping the kids.
Some school board members are more worried about their political influence instead of “the kids”.
