Would be interesting to see if areas like NBR had an increase as well.

Mine went up 8% over appraised value. It’s happening to everyone I’ve talked to.

80% increase uptown NOLA. To be fair this is the first increase we had since 2015, pre renovation

My assessed value went up 25% in EBRP.
After reading another thread this morning, I’m considering hanging photos of Malcom X all over the place and then contesting it.
ETA: No new appraisals or substantial renovations in over 8 years.

For those collecting data points in this thread, our appraisal went up 18.3%.
We have made no improvements either.

Mine is up 18%.. but I opened a HELOC last year and my assessed value is the exact same as my appraisal from that process. So I don’t think I have much of a leg to stand on.

No new reassessment for nine years, then one last year. And I got mine yesterday with a small increase. It probably is very close to the real value of our home though, so I doubt I can fight it.
Is this happening all over the parish?

Our remained the same.
We purchased home in October 2018 so that probably was reason.

It appears that $40k is the magic number. Many homes across EBR have assessment increases of $40k.
You would think that a percentage increase would be a more equitable way to apply this money grab, rather than a flat dollar amount.

BREC, CATS, EBRCOA, Bridge Center, school systems, the Sheriff, MARC and The Library Control Board will be licking their chops.

Buddy, I believe there is a means of protest. I’d look into it.

Why don't they subtract homestead from the assessed value?

There is. It's a 2 week period every year. Conveniently we were notified 7 days into the 14 day window, during a week with 2 storms threatening.
