The barbershop I go to in St. Gabriel stays open late as long as people were there waiting for a haircut. The one I used to go 5 years ago always closed at 8 but the one I have been going to now the barber don't turn money down.

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
The owner of the hair salon where a deputy was killed says the man accused of pulling the trigger was an employee at the store.

She says a barber who worked at the salon was hospitalized after he allegedly shot and killed Sgt. Shawn Anderson, 43.

Brandon Wiley was booked remotely into the jail on a rape charge, said Trooper Bryan Lee. Sgt. Shawn T. Anderson and another deputy went to Classic Cuts hair salon off O'Neal Lane on Saturday night to question Wiley, authorities have said.

He pleaded guilty to a count of aggravated battery in 2005 and was sentenced to 13 months in prison following an arrest the year before on two counts of attempted second-degree murder, according to the records. He was also sentenced to two years in prison in 2011 for "inciting a felony" after being arrested for indecent behavior with a juvenile, the records state.

BATON ROUGE – The man accused of killing an East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s deputy Saturday night has been remotely booked into jail on charges related to what brought Sgt. Shawn Anderson to the hair salon where he was killed.

Brandon Wiley, 30, has not been charged in Anderson's death and is not physically in Parish Prison, according to State Police. He remains hospitalized from injuries he received at the time of the shooting.

He was booked remotely by the Sheriff's Office, police said.

Wiley was booked with first-degree rape, resisting an officer and with tattooing and body piercing of minors

Although he has not been formally identified by authorities, multiple sources with knowledge of the investigation have identified Wiley as the man who killed Anderson.

The shooting happened around 11 p.m. at a hair salon in a strip mall near the movie theater on O’Neal Lane at I-12. Anderson, 43, went to the salon because he was investigating a rape report. He struggled with the shooter and was shot.

Anderson was taken to a hospital across the street, but died from his injuries.

Court documents indicate that Wiley has an extensive criminal history.

Wiley was arrested in Dec. 2004 for attempted first-degree murder. He pleaded guilty to aggravated battery charges in Oct. 2005 and was sentenced to 13 months in jail.

In January 2010 he was arrested for misdemeanor unlawful tattooing of a minor. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to four months in parish prison.

Is he Chuck Wiley's little brother? I can't think of much else.

ETA: Doesn't appear to be his brother.

So because he was incompetent he only spent 13 months in prison and this time he was able to complete his mission.

Attempted murder plead down to aggravated battery and only 13 months in jail...is that common?

Brandon Wiley was a offensive tackle at LSU. But he was in college with me so he's not 30. Or maybe that was Brandon Winey. I'm getting old and cant remember names that well anymore.
