The problem all residents of EBRP should care about is our disfunctional government.
The Advocate has a long article this morning outlining how the EBR School Board botched the property tax situation. They wanted to roll back millages but messed that up. Thankfully it saves tax payers money, but it just proved how incompetent they are.

Unbelievable you have bar owners begging to open and have their employees return to work, but many of the council members can't show up to even give them a vote? And people wonder why St. George wants to break away?

St. George breaking away has no impact. There is a consolidated city-parish government regardless of whether St. George is incorporated or not.
That said, that consolidated government is absolute trash and all of them should be thrown out.

That’s not true. If SG forms there would be a measure of independence in servuces. SG would control the use of approximately 55-60 million tax dollars, not the C-P Council.
Yes, there would still be the consolidated government, but like Baker, Central snd Zachary there would be some flexibility and independence.

We're talking about bars re-opening.

Gotcha.
I wonder, who controls the opening of businesses in Central, Baker and Zachary right now? Broome or their mayors? I’m guessing Broome????!!!!
ETA: I remember Broome could not force mask use age in Baker, Central or Zachary. Could she control restaurant and bars?
I don’t know.

If SG forms
Pretty sure we already voted YES on that

That is a good question.
Inside the City of Baker, Zachary, and if Central has bars, you would assume the cities control the regulations.
Since we have a consolidated government EBRP might control it.

Apparently the will of the people comes behind the will of our neighbors and politicians who are against SG.
Broome says we can’t take care of ourselves, however, on a regular basis we see Broome failing to protect children from drug violence, the C-P Council failing in their duties, the school board shirking their responsibilities, and we continue to slide as a community as our politicians battle over the location of tire shredders and giving away millions of dollars despite attorney’s advice not to.

Chandler Loupe might be the biggest piece of shite in EBR, outshitting even John Delgado and Tommy Spinosa combined.

BATON ROUGE, LA – This afternoon Metrocouncilman Chandler Loupe showed up for a Council Meeting nearly causing a panic among the other council members. Security immediately cornered Loupe and detained him after another council member shouted “HEY YOU, this is a closed meeting for council members only” not knowing who Loupe was.

Here’s what Loupe had to say today about the piece of legislation he had vo sponsored ;
To be fair Loupe has been consistent over his last three terms. He’s often too busy to vote.

“Our governor and mayor have been our respective authorities on that issue with access to experts, doctors and data I do not possess,” Loupe says in a text message. “Both have done a terrific job thus far and do not need my input, and I personally do not have any free time to play games with anyone.”

The point is the governors mandate put the parish governing body to decide. That’s the metro council in EBR. ATC can give the thumbs up but they are a federal agency. ABC is the local agency that can shut down bars because the metro council didn’t authorize them to open yet. Will that happen? No. But it’s a political pissing match between mayoral candidates.
ATC is a state agency. And to my knowledge all (or almost all) of the enforcement so far has been carried out by the state via the Fire Marshal and ATC.
That doesn’t change the fact that EBRP ABC could shut bars back down if they reopened though, to your point.

That’s totally unacceptable, regardless of how consistent he is. His constituents are morons for re-electing him twice.

Frick em', all bar owners should all just open since our "leaders" don't care about commerce. if not, theowners should do a sit-in, in all the drive ways all weekend for all the no shows to the vote.
And if they have a problem, joke is on them, they gotta call the police.
EZPZ.

Loupe says he does not “intend to interject [himself] into the COVID opening or closing guidelines,” but he did not respond to a follow-up question asking why he co-authored the resolution in the first place.

The bad news is, I'm trying to decide if I prefer Loupe in office or his replacement Rowdy Gaudet who is a former Broome staffer. I might prefer Loupe's no-showing self over Gaudet showing up doing crooked things.

Gaudet walked in with no opposition.
How does that happen?
