Our murder rate is pretty comparable but as bad as she is I'd take Broome over LaToya by a wide margin.

Green was the only non-yes in attendance, as an abstention. Half the goddamn council didn’t bother to show up.

This was the vote:

Watson yes
Welch yes
Wilson yes
Hudson yes
Amoroso yes
Racca yes

Green abstain

Banks, Loupe, Collins-Lewis, Cole, Wicker no shows

Anyone surprised that Loupe was a no show?

I don’t live in that shithole. I’m laughing at the citizens of both cities.

Were those yes votes "yes, we should reopen the bars" or "yes, we should veto the mayor's attempt to reopen the bars"?

Was the no-shows meant to defeat a quorum?

I am very confused.

If so she will be there a while. And still won’t get credit for having done so in the system.

How many are required for quorum? I would bet a lot of money that this is them trying to make a statement about the Alton Sterling settlement. Maybe I'm wrong, but they could have Green show up just to abstain so the vote is official but can't pass without 7 yes votes. The black council members did something similar with the Denise Amoroso confirmation vote a couple years ago.

The Yes votes were to approve the request for bars to reopen.

Honestly I'm not sure how quorum works.

It appears from what I can gather that almost half of them didn't show up and of those that did, they lost one from Zoom and therefore didn't have quorum.

That's malfeasance and should be grounds for a massive lawsuit

Maybe the bars should set up in parking lots and start “selling CDs” then.

Is anybody surprise Loupe didn't show? He's always absent.

So your theory is that this is the pro settlement crowd making a statement? If the C-P doesn’t pay up they are going to boycott meetings? That’s hard to believe, but I believe you are right,

How can you serve citizens and not even be bothered to show up to vote for something crippling a large portion of your economy.

These politicians should hang.

Is there no penalty or punishment for not showing up?

100s of people are trying to go back to work, small businesses want to reopen, and we don’t have enough people in the C-P Council to vote on it.

On the otherhand when it’s time to bend over and shell out 5 million dollars, it’s all hands on deck including the council person who is never around for a big vote. Yes, this is EBR Parish government at its finest.
