In the 60s, LDWF promoted trapping nutria for its fur, but that didn’t catch on.

It did catch on, but along came the PETA types and made buying fur goods a thing of the past in this country for the most part.

The state finally put a bounty on nutria and will pay by the tail as proof of the kill.

Some here are confusing the type of carp mentioned in the story. They are not the common gold carp found here and in Europe. They look nothing like the Asian Carp. Everyone who I know that has tasted them likes them. The issue is with the odd Y-bone structure that they have. Asians typically just grind to a paste, bones and all, to make balls or patties.

You get hungry enough and you'd eat the arse out of a dead rat-------and relish it.

Ever watch "Alone" and see how many mice and pack rats they eat on that show?????

I’ve never had nutria, but I’ve had rabbit, and rabbit is awesome. Also, have you ever considered how dirty pigs, chickens, and catfish are?

Nutria is delicious. So is squirrel and rabbit.

And if you have a problem eating dirty animals I hope you don’t enjoy bacon.

Never heard of an apple snail and had to look it up. Are they tasty?

They eat all the vegetation in their way, they are devastating to the eco system (and crawfish ponds)

I watched a doc on the people of Isle de Jean Charles, and they were saying how nutria is better than ribeye and would rather eat that than anything else.

Do you not have any black friends?

Since I was a wee lad, black folks in the South have been doing their part to eradicate carp from the South!

Deep fried carp + garden greens + orange drink = my childhood

If you are not eating beaver you may have a limited dating pool

Coon is OK, but rabbit and gopher are better

Country squirrel is good eating, DO NOT EAT city squirrel. Chipmunk is not bad but like dove, not much meat.

I prefer game rabbit, DO NOT EAT the frozen rabbit from China, and wild turkey.

If you can make people from around here like something they’ll eat it to extinction. Prudhomme got coonasses hooked on redfish when there are much better fish to eat in the same water.

They should up the bounty on nutria, it would give the gun fetishists something to do.

Just curious, what is a “gun fetishist”?
