The bottoms used to be horrendous. In HS, we would drive through there just to do it, and were chased out of there several times.

Was in the service with a dude from Gary. He said if you find yourself there after dark and you are white to not stop for ANYTHING, drive out of there on rims if necessary. The cops won't even ticket you, they will escort you out. He said you are never scared of the Middle East when you have grown up/lived in dangerous places. Really sad for America when you think of it.

Head about 100 miles south to Cairo, IL. The most depressing place in the US

Having worked in the hoods of Baton Rouge, Memphis, ESTL, Chicago and Atlanta....Baton Rouge is the least bad on the list.

Memphis and Chicago brothas will shoot you for breathing wrong. Orange Mound isn’t quite comparable to Afghanistan but I sure as hell sweat bullets when I have to go after dark.

Dogshit is dogshit no matter if it comes from a chihuahua or a Great Dane. Saying it’s the biggest ain’t saying much

I believe it. The neighborhoods really didn't look that bad. I looked on realtor.com and you can buy a small house there for $16K LIST. Highest priced house was $70K.

Prime for gentrification and taking the whole city over.

I drove through a chunk of St. Louis heading to a Cards game. I think I was coming down Florissant Ave or something. Crumbling buildings, vacant lots, and random barricades in streets that made you turn around. Not sure how I ended up going that way. I blame Google.

Been in East St Louis by mistake back in college. I didn’t grow up in the city and was dumb enough when it came to urban life that I didn’t think about what could have happened to me and my friends if things went wrong.

In November directly after Katrina I was in between jobs and decided to make some good $$$ by joining a good friend and pulling FEMA travel trailers from the Naval Base in New Orleans back to a RV store just NW of San Antonio. I lived in College Station at the time as I had graduated and my wife decided to go back to school to get her Masters. Not knowing New Orleans very well beyond time on Bourbon St., we end up getting lost in some area south of 90 south of the Superdome. The place was absolutely wrecked and it seemed like an eternity for us to find our way out. We stuck out like a damn sore thumb.

Some areas in Memphis, Shreveport, and Dallas (Park Row near the Cotton Bowl, Pleasant Grove) stand out, as well.

East St Louis is worse than New Orleans. Parts of Philadelphia Detroit & Newark make NOLA look like Orlando though.

By most on here we in NOLA have ESTL beat. Back that azz up.

Having been to both multiple times, there's not that much different. One is just colder and honestly looks better with the snow. I might have missed it but I didn't see the giant strip clubs right on the interstate in his video.
