There’s a 99% chance that reporter and photographer was sent out there by a producer or news director. It’s typically how it goes. If I was a betting man, I’d also expect they were out there to shoot something called B-roll, which is just basic video that goes behind audio or other overlaid information.
I think there’s a lot more that isn’t being said about this. Has anyone verified it was a private road?

Those people were just doing their jobs. He should take it up with their supervisors.
Would you have the same attitude if they walked through your front door because they have a bullshite story on you?

I understand why he is upset.
I understand how negative public perception can hurt his business.
Please forgive my ignorance though, but does it even matter if it's going into a pot to boil?

Course not.
I just felt bad for the reporter because she looked terrified.

Ah. Yes. Walking into a crawfish field in the middle of nowhere (when assuredly they passed other ones immediately adjacent to public roads) that belongs to someone else is “doing their job.”
I just assumed they went where they were told.

Well, she should look at this as a learning opportunity

...but to downplay that there is still an issue with illegals working crawfish is disingenuous.
Compared to ag industries that hire migrant workers in other parts of the country there is not.
There are more illegals hanging out at 2 Houston Home Depots in the morning than there are in the crawfish industry

I'd bet it's closer than you want to admit.

No shite...same can be said for the Home Depot on Coursey in BR.
And the job center on Evangeline Thruway in Lafayette....guess where several of those go.

No farmer of any kind of decent acreage is going pick up random Mexicans in Lafayette to work on their farm or run their crawfish traps
And peeling plants are sure not getting illegals
The crawfish industry in not the wild west it used to be 20 years ago
