Texas. It would have stiff competition if it weren't so damn long.

If you would've taken the more southern route, you would've wanted to shoot yourself in the face. All you see is sand for about 8 hours straight (going 90)

The giant sand dunes on the California / Arizona line are pretty cool to see. But, you're right, the only good thing about driving west on I-8 is you are almost to San Diego, America's finest city.

Jason Aldean disagrees. In his song "Fly Over states" he talks about driving through Indiana. Indiana is by far not the worst. Better than Illinois and Iowa though.

The stretch between Pensacola and Tallahassee is brutal.

I don't know why it is but that's a rough drive.

I haven't driven across every state, but of the ones I have, New Mexico is by far the worst.

Just desolate, depressing nothingness.

Dullest: the stretch of I-10 from Mobile to Jacksonville, or I-20 from Shreveport to the other side of Texas

Worst: MS Hwy 49 between Gulfport and Jackson-- nothing like having assholes pull out in front of you while you're doing 65 mph.

Southern Illinois going into Missouri is pretty horrible.

Mississippi is pretty shitty.

Especially with the divots on the line and not next to them.

Alabama sucks too.

I-10 from Jacksonville to Pensacola across the Florida panhandle is pretty shitty.

Dallas to El Paso is pretty boring but its sort of offset by the necessary vigilance against taking an accidental left. The state flower of Chihuahua is a severed head.

Alabama is a scenic state, but that damn tunnel traffic around Mobile is no fun.

Kansas is the most boring part of the country, unless you have a farmland fetish

Lake Charles to Lafayette or vice versa... hands down. I'm not sure the road curves one inch either direction, nor does the elevation change. It's a blowout your brains kinda drive.

In fact, Lafayette to Houston is a soul-sucking stretch of ugly and boring.
