They are Christians. Christ made wine, ergo wtf is the problem?

It's the beauty of Christianity - the bible is so ambigous you can justify about any action one way or another.

That's not how it works.

Wine is all throughout the Bible. It does not forbid the drinking of wine, but it does forbid getting drunk. Besides a small glass or two daily is very healthy. Thus the Robertson's are not being hypocritical.

Why are you glad? How is it ruining your life? Don't be such a drama queen.

Sorry you jumped on the redneck bandwagon, but it's pulling into the station.

Mainly Phil's comments in the past are why I'm glad they are disappearing. They give Louisiana a bad name.

But many don't and realize this is a mostly American cultural phenomenon and not really based in orthodox Christianity.

Exactly...Jesus drank wine, and gave several parables giving analogies warning about not using old wine bottles for new wine, etc...I had a friend that was Independent Baptist (very hardcore) and believed that Jesus drank grape juice, not wine - that's a classic case of twisting Jesus' actions to fit your political and religious viewpoints. Jesus drank wine, but he didn't get inebriated.

As of recently yes. But I grew up in a baptist church, grandfather was a minister, and the other was a deacon.

I can tell you for a fact that Southern Baptist churches do not serve wine in church and frown upon drinking for the most part. Although many of the newer age churches have stated its fine in moderation. Nondenominational churches are different.

There is a large difference in beliefs between each faction of Christianity.

Southern Baptists also frown on interracial marraige and women having jobs.

That's why when I ask myself, "what would Jesus do", I already know the answer.

Many evangelical Christians believe the consumption of alcohol to be a sin. Phil Robertson is a super conservative Christian who would seemingly be against alcohol

Many of them don't believe drinking a glass of wine is wrong. Hell, I grew up with Baptist friends who would drink wild turkey around the holidays.

In what way? Reality shows aren't real, but they are fairly consistent with who they are in private life.

New England yuppies may be stretching the truth, but jep, jase, and willie all were clean shaven and had shorter hair for a very long time.

Part of their persona is fabricated I won't argue with that

it's scripted, with really terrible acting, that makes people in NELA look like idiots.

Those guys are multi-millionaire businessmen, and not the idiots they pretend to be on the show. of course, throw in a prayer at the end and the family values crowd will lap it up.
