I was kinda wondering this too. I graduated high school 25 years ago but I don't remembering even having the option of dual enrollment. Seniors had the option of going part time so they could work, that's about it.
I wouldnt want to to do it because i was ready to have my half days as a sr and live it up.
But, you basically would take classes, for prob cheaper, at the nearest college. Some might do it to get into harder schools to give them an edge over that person with the same gpa, or that you can nock out a few prereqs for a less cost.
looking back now, it would be better to just go knock out those bullshite classes every uni has at some local community college for nothing, then go to a 4 year to finish the final 60 hours or so.

People wonder why their is a culture gap between Americans and many immigrants, especially from Asia and Africa.
A kid in Ethiopia or Pakistan with the equivalent of a 2.5 GPA and/or 19 ACT is forced to stay home and become a farmer. They aren't getting that meal ticket to America.

made a 25 on the ACT as a sophomore from a poor family with zero parental guidance. Just randomly filling in the bubbles should get you at least a 19.
I scored a 19 in seventh grade in the early 2000s...my family was poor as shite, neither parent went to college, was on tuition assistance and free lunches, etc. My parents did try their hardest though so I always worked hard and they made sure I did my homework and such.
The test isn’t that hard. What exactly are schools teaching these kids?

Maybe its because one culture values hard work and education and the other values keepin it real.

my private school did not allow us to leave early, we had to take 7 classes every year.
However, my ACT/SAT scores were high enough, that I was given credit for six hours of Math.
As for my daughter who graduates this year, I thought about putting her in dual enrollment, but with her ACT score she will get out of the first two englishes and the first math for sure. so I'm glad we didn't do that.

For getting college credit those scores seem pretty low, and the GPA is definitely low.

A bachelor’s is about to be downgraded to the level of a high school diploma, boys.

This is not the fault of students
It’s never their fault. No matter what it is, it’s never their fault. Must be nice to go through life where nothing, even your own willful decisions, are someone else’s fault.

Libs don't even think blacks can figure out how to get an ID to vote so not sure why this is surprising.

However, some colleges are eliminating ACT and SAT requirements for admission amid complaints that many White students enjoy financial and other advantages in navigating the questions.
Results on the ACT range from zero to 36.
Under state rules, students have to have a GPA of at least 2.5 and a composite 19 on the ACT to take a college class in high school.
They also have to earn at least a 19 on the math portion of the ACT and an 18 in English.
Davis said the average composite scores for Black students was 16.5 in 2019-20 and 20.5 for White students.
He said that, among high school seniors in Louisiana, nearly 85% of Black students do not qualify for the courses -- about 16,000 of 19,000 seniors.
Wait, what?

The standards are low enough, if you can't meet them then maybe you should consider something else.

Cause they’re fricking stupid and have useless, shitty parents and go to to useless shitty schools with useless shitty teachers.

These students should be learning a skill. Not getting loans to go to college.
This is a fact. Even school teachers know this. But they get in trouble if they utter the thought out loud. I am loathe to say it but the idiot in the White House got one thing right when he said we need to make Community College and Trade Schools free. Real college should be reserved for those smart enough or blessed with the financial means to go. Others, regardless of race, would be better off learning a trade and making a nice living.
I would much rather my child have an HVAC certification than a BA degree in Women's Studies.

Where are the OT usuals to tell us this is no big deal, not our problem, and something we shouldn’t worry about?

If you can’t get a 19, you’re fricking retarded
For an upperclassman I agree.
But these are usually Sophomores taking the ACT so they can sign up for DC classes their Junior and Senior years. Most 10th graders haven’t had Algebra II yet.
The math section cuts their little asses.

Why not work to help more black students are able to test higher on the scores
Instead of just lowering the standards as of to say black students are incapable of reaching these standards that other students are reaching
Are you actually suggesting that the public school system take a hard look at their methodology and academic environment and then engage is time-consuming change?

We're setting up so many people to be miserable failures at life. In the next 20 years, we'll have people in doctorate programs that can't even read.
And these are the same people that will cry to the heavens about student loan debt while flooding higher education with people who aren’t cognitively equipped to handle it

I'm just gonna piggyback off this. Back in the late 90s, my older sister was in high school so my parents made me take it when she did.
The first time taking it I made a 22. In the eighth grade...
Some of these kids barely make 17-18s in their junior and senior years.
There is a problem and high standards arent it.

Lower the bar. Just give out credits like candy.
Normally I'd say these kids will get nowhere in life, but at this point, they will probably prosper.
Top rate schools will be lining up to increase diversity numbers. Those schools will set the bar as low as possible to push them thru.
Employers will be lined up with diversity hire opportunities. Will be nearly impossible to fire, without sweet freaking severance deals.
Banking deals for home loans and loans of all type, possibly including grants for down payments and forgiveness. Probably amazing deals to live in areas where property values are way out of their range, but for diversity sake... grants can help cover the gap.
Credit ratings are probably racist, so there will be laws to make them illegal to use or they will be adjusted based on demographics.
