The story I heard was that he would come in bitching about margins and force them to order substandard, Sysco premade food instead of homemade refried beans, for example. I know Pepito’s was really good the couple of times, but by the end, the food wasn’t nearly as good, so I always found that to be a plausible explanation.
Ono’s has gone on to reopen a pretty successful place downtown
Most of his food sucks- I don’t eat at his restaurants. Last time I remember going, I got a smoked turkey poboy that might have had 3 thin slices of turkey on it.
Back to the story, though- my daughter said she knows a couple of people that were there, but doesn’t know if Shane was there or not. His dumb arse for letting a bunch of teenagers get shitfaced at his closed restaurant.

I feel like this needs a little more background and explanation.
He didn’t try to buy newspaper companies. He’s nowhere near that level of baller.
He drove around to a bunch of convenience and liquor stores buying stacks of a weekly newspaper that printed local mugshots. I guess he thought if he bought all the papers, then his friends, associates, and neighbors would never find out he tried to hire a nasty $100/hr hooker.

Full disclosure, my daughter is a freshman at Byrd. I asked her about this after school today and she didn’t even know about it.
These kids these days are lacking. I was knee deep in stuff like this freshman year. Thank you Lord!

Food used to be pretty good back early 2000’s until he started opening a lot of restaurants.
Their crawfish are my least favorite in Shreveport.
