Drug overdose deaths soared by nearly 30% in 2020

If it saves one life, right? WSJ
And now they’re threatening lockdowns again. These people are evil. I don’t use that word lightly, but people like Biden, Kamala, and Mitch McConnell are evil people and should not be welcomed in polite society.

Drug-overdose deaths in the U.S. surged nearly 30% in 2020, the result of a deadlier supply and the destabilizing effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, according to preliminary federal data and public health officials.
The estimated 93,331 deaths from drug overdoses last year, a record high, represent the sharpest annual increase in at least three decades, and compare with an estimated toll of 72,151 deaths in 2019, according to provisional overdose-drug data released Wednesday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
“That is a stunning number even for those of us who have tracked this issue,” said Brendan Saloner, associate professor of health policy and management at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. “Our public health tools have not kept pace with the urgency of the crisis.”
The surge, the 2020 data show, was driven largely by a proliferation of fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid whose use has spread across the nation. The pandemic amplified the epidemic of overdoses, bringing on social isolation, trauma and job losses, according to addiction experts and treatment providers. Overdose deaths began rising in the fall of 2019 with the spread of fentanyl, but really took off starting in March 2020, when pandemic-driven shutdowns and physical-distancing measures set in. “It’s really one of those things where 2020 turbocharged something that was already wildly out of control,” Dr. Saloner said.
And now they’re threatening lockdowns again. These people are evil. I don’t use that word lightly, but people like Biden, Kamala, and Mitch McConnell are evil people and should not be welcomed in polite society.

I guarantee more people died as a result of government meddling in life than they did directly from Covid.

Our government is trying to thin the herd and covid didn't do a very good job against our immune systems.

It’s ok drugs are illegal so that solves that problem

I am, and I unfortunately came to this conclusion during Covid. I naively assumed our natural state when the need arose was storming the beaches of Normandy. Instead that is a rare exception: our natural state is that of cowards. “Rules are rules” I’ve been told. Bunch of fricking cowards when I’ve met people who have told me they’d literally kill to have what I grew up with.

Where does fentanyl come from and how does it get into the country?

It’s natural selection.

Fentanyl from China coming across the Southern border is taking people out. A pinch, 5-700 micrograms, can kill someone. It’s cut into pills and heroin….

Oh you mean shitting off all social interaction while basically making people not leave their homes has negative effects?

Unfortunately, ignorance is likely the biggest issue in this country.

Anyone else find the irony in LT saying that?

You’re aware the previous lockdown was under a different administration and these deaths are attributed to that year, correct?

And the disruption of the supply lines has yet to be addressed by anyone save for our own inconveniences here. People I do business with are bitching about it, but no one is starving here. What does this mean for someone in Rwanda though? When the fog clears we’re going to be horrified by what we find. I guarantee a large plurality of people have been killed by our reaction to Covid rather than from Covid itself.
From the moment Trump banned international travel, my very first thought was on the supply lines, and it’s just been complete and total silence from the Third World since then save for the Abraham Accords and chaos in South Africa. There’s a bunch of western media in South Africa which is why we’re hearing about that. What else is going on in the world where there are no Western journalists anymore?
I think we’re going to be just floor struck once we see what’s been going on in the Third World, and Africa specifically when it comes to China. The Chinese save for their elderly and the people they’re committing genocide against have been fine through Covid. What about their insurance policy in Africa though? You listen to CCTV and they’ll openly say they’ve invested in Africa to prevent another “Great Leap Forward” in China. I think by the end of the year we’re going to start processing what we have done to humanity as a whole.

It's being used to cut cocaine as well. Distributors and street dealers are doing it in this part of SC.

Oh frick right off on this. Look at my post below yours. Trump has some blame as well, but if anything he was reckless on wanting us to open up quickly and not what these clowns are saying. They want to control our lives, and this goes for members of the previous administration. I should have thrown Fauci in there as well who should be in fricking prison for what he’s done, lied about, and continues to lie about.

This is a direct result of stimulus checks more than anything.
What do you think a junkie is going to do when he gets a chunk of cash like that over night? He is going to drop it all on dope. More so than they can probably get their hands on without a government handout

No it’s not. What do you think happened to the millions of people in AA that could no longer go to their meetings? What happened to addicts that became socially isolated and were told “shut the frick up and do as you’re fricking told! We’re trying to save lives, you worthless piece of shite.” You clearly don’t understand addicts at all.

I used to feel like you, but then I came to grips with the fact that there are forces at work here that we can’t control. Only thing you can do is love your family and try to enjoy your time on this earth. Living life outraged is unhealthy and not worth it.
