That is what i’m thinking. I was afraid Salvation Army would not let me donate it so that is why I went while they were closed.

I was hoping this was going to be one of those reddit 'still gives me chills' stories. Had promise, then fizzled.

You are lucky as hell the Indians took it because literally no thrift stores take used mattresses.

So you were upset that someone actually wanted the garbage you were illegally dumping?

So, it sort of sounds like a scenario that worked out pretty well for all parties involved here.

Haha, that's called "dumping"

You did way more than I would've done, and that includes donating the mattress.

Salvation Army’s website said they take mattresses but they can not have any stains on them. Not sure how close of an inspection they were going to do on it. Mine was good and still had a zip mattress cover. Was not that old but I just needed to get rid of it.

You should have left it on the side of Burbank. Probably 85% of the furniture in El Cid was found on the side of Burbank.
Good move. House probably reeks of curry, feet, and arse.

Same here. OP is a saint for doing as much as he did. I would've continued to unload the mattress and box spring right where I intended to, told them to enjoy, and then drove off.
